    [Trailer] King Arthur

No matter how I slice it, it still comes out as a wait-for-the-DVD movie.

D&D 3.5 Orcs: back to Tolkien?

It wouldn't hurt if you did.

Those adventures become a matrix of sites, wherein the PCs bounce back and forth until they piece together everything and resolve the adventure's hook; in this case, travel between sites again becomes that which gets glossed over unless there's an encounter. This gets worse at high levels...

Which PHB race doesn't fit into YOUR fantasy campaign?

Half-Elves, Half-Orcs and Gnomes get the boot. Gnomes get tossed because they haven't a niche. Half-elves & half-orcs get replaced with other mechanics, which are dependant on the setting. Hell, whenever I can I edit out all extraneous non-humans; unless that NPC must be something other than...

'Why I hate 'Lord of the Rings' '

If Elrond were to shove Isildur into the fires of Mount Doom, then he wouldn't be committing murder; that would be an act in the defense of the Free Peoples of Middle-Earth because he would've acted to destroy the One Ring. The One Ring is an aspect of Sauron, and therefore is a part of him, so...

Did anyone else not get the latest issue of Dungeon?

    RPG.NET down [Again] ?

It's up again. Going slow, but up.

RPG/D&D terms and phrases that are no longer clever or amusing.

By and large, yes. Overland travel isn't where the adventure is; it's the speed-bump that stands in the way of the adventure site and the base of operations. Those rules are used as speed-bumps until such time as the PCs gain the ability to travel without risk (usually by teleporting) and...

RPG/D&D terms and phrases that are no longer clever or amusing.

You were fooled. Dungeon crawling is the heart of D&D gameplay, and it's been that way since the game's original publication. That's a matter of verisimlitude. Sometimes not messing with the mount is the bad call to make. The 3.0 version isn't a class ability worth having in your standard...

RPG/D&D terms and phrases that are no longer clever or amusing.

No, it's not. It's a damned good way to turn what was a serious liability--most adventures don't allow for much riding of mounts, especially underground or indoors, so the mount often got left behind where bad things would befall upon it--into a useful class ability for paladins.

D&D 3.5 Orcs: back to Tolkien?

Hear, hear! D&D needs to hew closer to Tolkien, not deviate further away from it.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20031219/ap_on_en_mo/film_chronicles_of_narnia_1 See that URL above? That link goes to an article at Yahoo describing how the first Narnia book's being adapted into a movie again--the first time in a generation or so--and that's it's getting...

Sky Captain -- anyone heard of this?

Watching the trailer has me feeling like I did when I saw Tezuka's Metropolis, Kishin Heidan, The Phantom (needs sequels!), The Shadow (ditto!), The Rocketeer (ditto!), all of the Indiana Jones films, The Big O! and Giant Robo (or playing in Torg's Nile Empire): beaming from ear-to-ear, thrilled...

Movies that I just don't get

Vampire Hunter D is a male half-vampire, properly called "dhampir" but often called "dunpeal" for some reason or another, and he specializes in the hunting and execution of true vampires. There are two movies featuring this character. IMDB entries for each are found at...
