Who Here is Getting Dragon Roots?

Rocco... thanks for the update... I'll be ordering the PDF when I get home and with any luck I'll be in for the print issues too. I don't love PDFs, but I do like their convenience and the ability to keep my current dead tree reading shelf manageable ;)

    Dragon Roots Pricing

Rocco, thanks for the replies and the info. If the PDF price comes down im in for the first issue. If it is even half as good as your enthusiasm for the project is Ill probably spend the cash for 4 printed issues and the pdfs... the kid can go to one less movie a month and ill save the needed...

Who Here is Getting Dragon Roots?

Actually, the 70 page count is surprisingly more then I expected. Count me as on the fence. That being said, perhaps Rocco should consider a lower price for the PDF of the premier issue if nothing else... I'm not sure if I'd pay $8 an issue even with 70 pages of content for the PDF, but if I...

    Dragon Roots Pricing

Pricing is important if you have a limited spending budget... for many in our hobby their gaming budget is already allocated and possibly even stretched as is. $10.25 for an issue of a magazine is no small thing. Could I afford it? Definitely. Can I justify the price sight unseen without...

Who Here is Getting Dragon Roots?

Hadn't even heard of the mag until I saw the pricing thread. That being said, 25 plus 16 shipping for 4 issues... I'll have to wait on some reviews before taking the plunge. Kobold Quarterly and Crusader have been filling my Dragon magazine needs at the moment. Throw in Pathfinder for my...

    Knowledge Arcana Untethered

Wow... I'd suggest the two of you take it to PMs or emails... its unbecoming and sure to be locked as this is pretty beyond the bounds of enworld...

    Castle and Crusaes Paladin

I would guess it is because they know that PDFs often get shared amongst groups. The Condensed Rules give you enough to play the game, but if you want the 7 other classes you have to pony up the $13 dollars the Player's Handbook costs on Buy.com ;)

    Cops looting bodies?

As a real world cop I can tell you that the above quote is usually directed toward the members of the fire department... even my great-grandmother used to talk about firemen putting silverware in their boots (why else would they need such oversized boots?) ;) I'm sorry for the loss of your...

Pathfinder 1E Why Didn't Paizo Do their Own "Dragon/Dungeon?"

Very insightful answers from the Paizo folks. I'd rather have a quality publisher that pays it's employees then a bankrupt publisher that... well, is bankrupt. Course, thank god for Wolfgang... or else I might be chiming in with "why no magazine?" despite my better judgment... and yours ;)

    Necro is IN! Planned Products

And what would you change it to? Heh. I can see the confusion for some, but for many Necro is a publisher first... Everquest Class second ;) To me at least :)

    Necro is IN! Planned Products

Yep, and since the 3rd party classes will fall under the OGL, some might even be lifted more or less intact by WotC for their yearly updates.

    Necro is IN! Planned Products

Necro upped the bar for third party products years ago. They and a few others have been publishing consistently quality products for a few years now. As for WoTC decision and how the OGL will play out... Clark might be a gambler, but the investment he is making is that of someone that is...

    Necro is IN! Planned Products

But what is core? AS far as WoTC is concerned the new "core" is the classes and races that will be in the 4E Players Handbook, DMG and MM. If it ain't in there it should be free game. Heck, variant classes of the new "core" will trot out fairly quickly as they have in the past... it is the...

    Necro is IN! Planned Products

I seriously doubt it will be anywhere as restrictive as you think. Classes and races have been tinkered with in one way or another since the earliest editions of the game. Major mechanics changes (True20, M&M, etc) are where I expect the OGL will be less flexible.

hmmm... you could start a thread asking for suggestions as to the name of the book... not that I can think of any at the moment ;)

NEWS: OGL and SRD dates/info announced

It might bite, but I fail to see why WoTC should distribute what is basically a free version of their rules and IP. I know gamers that never bought 3.5 as the 3.0 and the SRD was all they needed. From a business sense that is lost money. That being said, I will miss having a 4e online rules...

NEWS: OGL and SRD dates/info announced

I think some publishers could cover this cost my issuing non-voting shares in shares in their companies. What gamer wouldn't want to be able to say they own part of a gaming company, even if all they get is a snazzy certificate and maybe a product sent to them once a year ;)

    Kobold Quarterly #3 has arrived

Is there a link to the special? I've subscribed to the PDF and wouldn't mind getting a print copy too... and the free dice might just seal the deal for me ;)
