What happens to a big dead animal in the Underdark?

Creepy thing is their might be some that effect mammals. They found one parasite that infects fish, getting them to act erratically to attract birds. Another invades crabs, actually altering it physically (whether male or female) to start creating the parasites eggs. They even act as if they...

    Hoplite Combat Feat-- Too strong?

Sorry, those are formarion feats. Here's a quick rundown: -Concerted Assault: By attacking en mass, you gain a +1 to hit. This stacks with other formation feats, such as Meat Skewer. -Concerted Fire: By firing in concert on a specific target, said target gets a -4 to their Active Defense...

    Hoplite Combat Feat-- Too strong?

OGL Ancients might help. Here's a review: http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/10/10232.phtml The combat system is a bit complicated (ex: armor and shields have 3 different DR's, one for each type of melee damage) but it can be dropped. It has many phalanx feats, all requiring that three or...

Is Power Creep Real? If so, how do you fight it?

You can get rid of power creep the same way Games Workshop is for WH40K; get rid of the extra options.

Looking for a good, but odd, race for a wizard

If you don't mind Ogl: The Quasta A relative to the beholder (a strange mix of beholder and parrot), this abberation levates as a form of locomotion, surrounded by floating eyeballs. It has feathered wings to aid in movement, which are often dyed for decoration. +2 Dex, -2 Str, -2 Con Small...

    Your thoughts on 'Xcrawl"?

WOOHOO!!! Celebrity guest appearance!! :) I love what I'm reading of the core book so far (the joys of working for the FLGS; I gets to read my stuff before I buy!! ;) ). I'm really interested in how the other source material compares. How it effects the story and background, that sort of thing.

How would you stat this 'poison'?

The idea is a future based 'poison' consisting of fast growing/cloning nerve tissue. The idea is that it would create erratic connections with the creatures own nervous system, causing unpredictable spasms and possibly death from misfiring/misdirected nerve clusters. The effect would last until...

    CannonBall Special

Prefer MGP's method. The thrower makes an Str check vs DC 10. You subtract 10 from the result (20 if you don't make it). Modifiers are added due to differences in size. The surplus (or penalty) is added to the throwee's jump check. There's no limit to distance based on height.

    The Magic-Walmart myth

The Spycraft weapons guide (I forget the books name). It's a bit complicated, but we like it. Here's our touch up version: Black Market Rules: -Finding a broker requires a level check with the following DC’s: * Untraceable civilian equipment: 12 * Illegally modified civilian equipment: 16 *...

    CannonBall Special

Look at The Quintessential Halfling by MGP. The thrower makes a Str check, and the throwee gets jump check bonuses or penalties based on the roll (no limit to distance, of course). If the jump check succeeds, he makes it to target. If not... The are even feats for it, including being allowed to...

    The Magic-Walmart myth

We've been using the blackmarket rules from an OGL source for our item shopping. It keeps the power gaming down, and gives the faceman an important role to fill. The fighter has combat, the bard gets his haggle time...

Does anyone else find DR X/magic useless?

This isn't quite true though. A +6 enhancement bonus is epic, but a weapon with +5 and X enchantment isn't epic unless it exceeds the +10 total.

    Need spell to prevent teleport

An idea that will need more work, but if you're up for it... Instead of finding a way to negate the teleport find or create creatures that teleport with you. They tag along with the spell if they are in a given range. Even if the players kill the tag alongs, your wizard can scry his soldiers...

    The Magic-Walmart myth

It might stem from the villages and cities effectively being the 'magimart'. Per the rules, a given collective will have an item under a given amount based on population. Your DM can say otherwise, but it's declared a reasonable expectation. At this point, unless you're a heavy roleplayer, a...
