I've pre-ordered the book, and what I've seen is a blast. I LOVE the fluff. That being said, is there anything I should look out for? Odd mechanics, possible abuse, etc?

Can't say I wholy agree with this. While it might not set something in stone, it can definitely cater to specific genres. A few examples: -Putting a Gundam in the Star Wars saga system will definitely change the feel of the game. -Anyone wanting to play a William Tell or Robin Hood based...

Some of the posters on the WotC site feel that the mods have gone into overdrive deleting posts and threads. I'v only seen one deleted, after which the mod who did the deleting made a new thread on the same subject. Has anyone noticed a trend, or is this paranoia kicking in amongst the WotC...

A sense of adventure? :( I seems that, unless a DM goes seriously out of their way to amp up a challenge, the default is to let the players win.

I've found this to be the opposite, and is one of the reasons I don't buy WotC. I can get 2 OGL books for the price of one WotC book. More if I hunt through the bargain bin. ;) That, and I didn't see the need to pay another $90 for 3.5, and most OGL still fits the 3.0 format.
