Ray of Frost and Cloud of Daggers; Red Headed Stepchildren of Wizard At-Wills?

You really don't wanna be C&Ping stuff out of copyrighted books onto a messageboard... And yes, Cloud of Daggers kills minions, the effect happens regardless of hitting or not. And as for Thunderweave, a Wizard has to be careful how he's gonna use his spells, if he doesn't wanna hurt his...

D&D 4E Heavy Concrete Data on 4e's Skill Challenge System (long, lots of tables)

*sigh* All I'm saying is that people should take these calculations with the proverbial grain of salt, what's hard to understand about that? Not all people will give the math, and what its saying an in depth look, and some might not know how the math behind all of it. Taking the 7th level entry...

D&D 4E Heavy Concrete Data on 4e's Skill Challenge System (long, lots of tables)

Succeeding at a complexity 1 challenge involves a maximum of 5 rolls; succeeding at a complexity 5 challenge involves a maximum 17 rolls. While probability theory is useful in large scale, unless you have hundreds of skill challenges going on, the math will simply be irrelevant and won't reflect...

D&D 4E Heavy Concrete Data on 4e's Skill Challenge System (long, lots of tables)

If you trust the numbers, that is indeed what they indicate. But there is one very good reason why the numbers aren't relevant; the glaringly low event sample which the numbers address. In my opinion, an individual DM can do much more good than any amount of number crunching in this regard, and...

D&D 4E Heavy Concrete Data on 4e's Skill Challenge System (long, lots of tables)

@ the OP: The skill challenge system also leaves a lot of room to the DM for tweaking, in various ways, so that the challenge is more appropriate for this game. Once the DM gets the hang of them, he should be able to tailor them to his group and adjust them, so that the PCs have a better chance...

    D&D 4E UPDATED 6/20/08! kiznit's 4e Fold-over Character Sheet w/ Cards

Well, here's my 2 cents: - The DnD logo needs to be full, the way you have it now is kind of an eyesore - The sheet doesn't need its own title really, you know what it is just by looking at it :) - You should try and get at least a semblance of a grid going; the various part of the sheet don't...

Portable hole: not for storage anymore

Mental images of a huge half-orc with luscious, perky lips all dolled-up in the brightest of crimson, smashing his way through the dungeon come to mind... I like the new portable hole, it's just so full of uses (pun probably not intended...).

drawing 2 weapons (or sword+shield) a minor action?

Not in the rules as such, they just say that it's a minor action to draw/sheathe a weapon. Still, it only makes sense to allow a person to draw both weapons if he uses two, and it doesn't adversely affect the rules in any way to do so.

Please help, i have a lot of doubts with 4th edition :_(

It's easiest to explain with an example: you have your basic set of Hide armor. Enchant it with any magical effect of +3 or less, and it's still just Hide armor with that enchantment. At +4 and +5 it becomes Darkhide armor (it won't mystically morph into Darkhide armor, it's just that +4 armor...

    DM's Screen in August???

Although I was saddened when I noticed this, as long as it's quality stuff, with a good layout and all the necessary and relevant data on it, I can wait for it. My 3e screen+paperclips+a few tables I need will hack it for now.

    Insubstantial =?

For everything else that wasn't a wraith. For effects which care about bloodied. For PC abilities. For a million other reasons...

Ray of Frost and Cloud of Daggers; Red Headed Stepchildren of Wizard At-Wills?

Well, you can't make an OA on your own turn, so that would negate him hitting you back for hitting him, but it would still allow everyone else next to you, to smack you upside the head. Thankfully, ranged OAs don't exist, so this isn't a problem. :) Oh, and for the record, you only get one OA...

Using Magic Missic for OAs? [PA/PVP Podcast]

He did indeed, but you have to take into account exactly when the podcast was made, the rules apparently changed significantly since then. There is nothing in the PHB which would allow you to use magic missle (or eldritch blast for that matter) as an OA. Their description does include "can be...

Ah, that brings me back to the Magic Item Encyclopedia of olden times... Great stuff. :)

Ray of Frost and Cloud of Daggers; Red Headed Stepchildren of Wizard At-Wills?

As per the PHB pg285, you can't forcibly move a target vertically. But since his idea was fairly creative and the situation was what it was, I'd allow it that one time, it's not game breaking and it's cool. :)

    Any Graphical Feat Trees?

I really don't see the point of making a graphic tree here, unless you're gonna group it by class, race, etc. which is just as pointless, since you'd have a ton of categories with a couple of feats at best. =/ The feats are far too varied and independent to have any kind of meaningful 'tree'...

Ray of Frost and Cloud of Daggers; Red Headed Stepchildren of Wizard At-Wills?

What I like the most about Cloud of Daggers is that it's a spell which can, given creative use, be far better than one would assume at first glance, and to me that's just Wizarding at it's best, even if your allies are doing some of it. ;)

    Treasure scaling

Exactly what do you want them spending gold on? Giving them this much gold pretty much tells them "basic living expenses, and rituals" assuming the rituals are repriced appropriately. That's it; no land, no inns, no magic items, no expensive non-magic items, nothing really. If that's what you...

    Oa

Plus, if said area attack is a 'Close' attack, then the enemy doesn't get an OA.

    Sneak Attack + Critical Hit?

Actually, when you score a crit, all damage dice that you don't get specifically because you got a crit is maximized. This has been stated by someone at wizards, can't remember the exact quote. So for example, a ranger critting his quarry with a greataxe (on a basic attack), would do 18+Str+1d12.
