    Rogue Equipment on a Budget?

I always go for some basic stuff that really helps. (3.0 still... dont know the prices for 3.5 ) - Gloves of Storing 2200 gp for quick action Bow shooting. - Bracers of Archery - Magic Bow +1 for a near 2k gold basic bonus. Defensive Stuff: Vest/Cloak of Resistance 1k = +1 / 4k = +2...

Are warriors & rogues required at high level?

My experience is that mages doing the damage directly isnt half as efficient as pumping up group members and making them deal out the damage. Improved Invisibility = Super Rogues Greater Magic Weapon = Fighters killing more etc... etc... Fireballs can be nice... but sometimes Haste will do...

Top 25 Why You Don't Play D&D Anymore

I still manage to do that on weekend afternoons ! One needs priorities.. and its way easier to have time with my girlfriend than with my RPG group.

    Worst 5th party member

Well in the defense of the monk I must say they are great for disarming traps... the dangerous way. Monks have absurd reflex saves and so they make neat rogue substitutes by running ahead and setting off most traps. That is how we are overcoming our lack of rogues in the group :)

    Worst 5th party member

I always thought the idea of 2 rogues operating together was great... I say the idea because I have never seen it done in fact. Just the idea that you can have two rogues scouting ahead and that they can sneak attack to death any minor intruder seemed great. In regular combat they would...

Rank the 3.5e DMG Prestige Classes

Horizon Walker looks like a supermarket for out of the ordinary abilities... want some spot ? Get the Plains terrain. Want some Move Silent ? Get Marsh. Higher levels have things like Resist 20 Fire !! Or tremorsense 30'feet. (You keep these abilities even outside that environment) I wouldnt...

    Best 5th party member?

Worst 5th party member Vote on the above poll for the worst 5th party member... curious to know how that goes. Quite surprised the Bard is doing so well in this poll.

    Worst 5th party member

Ok I am ripping off the "Best" poll to make a "Worst". I think the issue is quite relevant thou. Best 5th party Member poll Given a standard 4 person party composed of a fighter, cleric, rogue and wizard, which class do you think generally makes for the WORST "5th PC" addition to the...

    Best 5th party member?

You should have put Ranger there !! I voted Paladin... but a Ranger would have been better. One fighter type is never enough. So a Ranger for tracking and fighting or a Paladin for "being good" and fighting should be the 5th member. Magic eventually runs out... and you will need the extra...

    [True Story] And darn scary

What is more likely ? a) Ghosts exist... they like Hammocks and show up from fireplaces scaring people. b) People have very active brains, imagination and are also extemely visual creatures too. My Wicca friend said that when your half awake/half asleep we are more open to spiritual...

Fun ways to play a druid?

Well there is the not so subtle "get one level of monk" tactic and keep use Wisdom AC in animal form too. :) Druids if specialized in their spellcasting can be quasi mages. Get spell prodigy in Forgotten... specialize in elemental stuff. 3.5 has a way too strong summoning list for...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Darkness Spell 20% ?

The only reason could be to speed game up... Darkness is notorious for creating some wierd situations. Player knowledge needs to be limited too. Still at 20' radius it wasnt a big deal. I have seen a situation where a Darkness was cast by the Party and Silence by the evil Cleric in the same...

    Mirror Image Sage Advice

Attacking with Closed Eyes Attacking with closed eyes means you get 50% chance of hitting the real guy... but if you miss... you DONT hit an image. So the mirror image will continue to hassle your allies. Also even if you do allow the temporary "close my eyes".... the images themselves are...

Paladin vs Fighter/Cleric (Previously: Is Turn Undead useful for a Paladin?)

Divine Feats sure are good... and now that the Turn Undead itself is harder... it will be even more common for that. In the end the idea was so that Paladins wouldnt get Divine Might in 3rd level when the old Turn Undead was gained... now only in 6th lvl will they be able to get Divine Might.

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Darkness Spell 20% ?

This is one of my favorite rants about 3.$... sorry 3.5 in our gaming table. 1. Its not Darkness its "Shadows" now. So change the frickin name 2. It could be called Blur 20' feet too. 3. "Deeper" Darkness is an even worse joke... 60 feet of the same rubbish instead of 20 feet. 4. Obscuring...

The Vin Diesel Interview on Conan (now with transcript)

I thought Vin Diesel was pretty nice about D&D... but Conan for sure was poking fun at D&D all the time... didnt like the way he did it. Vin was just "cool" about it. Since he does remember the details and actually used the Melkor name on a fake tattoo means he really liked the game. I...

How does one balance a PrC?

I hate it when they "balance" PrC by demanding wasteful feats. Just silly to do it. For spellcaster you might skip gaining a spellcasting level only once during the advancement... that is quite a penalty.

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Halfling with Reach, you like it?

I would think the "small" version of weapons is availabe more to calculate damage of weapons and people that were reduced or shrunk somehow... so I dont think a small halfling with a small longspear would have reach.

The Concept Is... he DOESN'T use a sword.

I did have a 2nd Ed. Fighter Mage specialized in Daggers... the adventure had a horribly powerful dagger thou. Returning too... I think the DM didnt expect a specialized dagger fighter. The damage I did with it was incredibly big. :)

    Paladin Profession

To much attention to violence and its use to cleanse evil is making your Paladin lose tolerance and serenity. His High Priest commander has ordered him to go thru a spiritual and physical moment of meditation, studying and thought. 4-5 years should be enough to help him put humility and respect...
