Wherein we ask each other dialect questions we don't quite understand

No one even going to try to translate those Trinidad expressions?

What aspect of geek culture does not resonate with you?

Most of the current popular TV shows. Everything from Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Fringe, and especially Lost. I just don't see the attraction of the shows. I was a toy/collectable hoarder, but sold off most of it on eBay when I moved to a smaller apt after getting divorced. The $ was most...

What will you do in your old age?

    So I retired at 18?

    Sports idiocy

Gosh, you make me sound like a couple of the lab geek "Squints" from Bones.

What will you do in your old age?

Retiring would require actually being employed. (grumble) That's what the wonderful world of managing rental properties is good for.

    Sports idiocy

How is it civic pride when most of the players aren't locals, but imported from other cities, or even states? How do the players, or how does the obscenely wealthy owner of the team, really reflect the community?

But what is the attraction in the first place?

Painting your face in team colors: (mostly) harmless fun buying (and wearing) team shirts: (mostly) harmless (except to your bank account) reckless public endangerment: not harmless

Wherein we ask each other dialect questions we don't quite understand

"Oh, that has got to hurt: someone from England complaining that your food is 'bland'." --John Oliver (Actually, Ramsey is from Scotland, but it was John Oliver's joke, and I don't think many other Americans would have got the difference.) Speaking of John Oliver, can someone please translate...

    Sports idiocy

Judging from the irresponsible displays of fireworks and loud detonations, I'm guessing that the CA Bay Area team won some sports thing again. Irresponsible unleashing of fireworks by children and prats old enough to know better but somehow still acting as children is something that has troubled...

Uwe Boll has a has a bug up his butt about crowd funding

Uwe has managed to make a couple of "not completely terrible" movies by accident. Don't ask me what they are--I don't remember off the top of my head. But yes, he gets all these video game tie-in movies because they fail. Take the plot of The Producers, and you have the model for Uwe Boll's career.

Film remakes and reboots and adaptations

I can think of two adaptations that were superior to the source material. Warlock. Male witch from the time of the Salem trials gets teleported to modern (1980s) LA by a magic spell, along with the man who hunted him down. The book is full of puerile and juvenile vulgarity, such as a sage...

    Ultra Modern Character Builder?

I've been looking for tutorials, but haven't found anything recent (I guess that's no surprise). Most annoying thing is when the instructions assume knowledge. "Do _____" OK. How? Hypothetically, if someone wanted to add classes to the builder, or other custom work, how, hypothetically might...

When someone else ruins your enjoyment of a something

Oh, that's a long, long, long list. People tend to inflate things as being way better than they actually are. Others just ramble on and on about something good, but to the extent that I was no longer able to tolerate the subject. Star Wars was ruined for me for about 5 years by a couple of Jr...

    Your relationship with social media

I consider what has been dubbed as "social media" as utterly irrelevant and pointless. I've asked others for explanations, and no one has given me one that leads me to consider them worth my time or effort.
