Hmph! This whole place is overrun with vermin. What makes you think this is any better protected that the rest was?
Kylek moved slowly around, appraising the obelisks as he spoke. Soon he turned to study his companions.
Perhaps a rest is necessary for some, but do we have the time...
Weird...
Can't say as I like it much here.
Keeping a close eye on the creatures Clyde decided to take a closer look at the large cabinets that stood to one side. He moved slowly across the room, like a man afraid he'd spook a dangerous animal, then tried the cabinets one after the other.
That's really interesting. Controllers are so unpopular in general, but the Wizard is quite popular. Bard is right there in the mix even though it's a PHB2 class. I wonder why the Paladin is so hot? I would have thought warlocks would have been lower given how much people talk about them not...
Seeing Morvannon pop back up Magnus wheeled about, whipping his staff around and conjuring another cloud of razor sharp shards, this time around the hyena menacing Vrrsk't. Magnus closed in on the other canine waving his staff threateningly as his spell did its grisly work.
Cloud of...

Lily rushed out of the house at full tilt, coming to a skidding halt at the side of the injured woman. Casting about for something clean to staunch the bleeding with, she ripped a section from her dress and set about trying to calm the woman and treat the injury at the same time.

I'm not sure why, but the first thought that popped into my mind upon reading this thread is that I should replace all the dwarves and elves with werewolves and vampires. A good rivalry with just as much hair and vanity as before.
3e Forgotten Realms - Nothing screams D&D to me like the FRCS. It's a wonderful guilty pleasure and it sucks me in like no other generic fantasy setting. Rich and quirky, I love it. Plus the Shades are too cool as villains.
Bas-Lag - It's so weird and awesome. I love the bizarreness and...
Lily followed the others up through the trap door, and even though she knew it was likely to be bad she still wasn't quite prepared for the sight that met her. Stepping slowly into the room, she looked sadly down at the bodies.
We need to put an end to this... She trailed off as something...
Lily's eyes followed Raiyek's to the floorboards that lay overhead, a worried look crossing her features as she clutched the skull she carried tightly. Closing her eyes she listened intently for any indication of who or what else may be laying in wait for them above. Listened for any mundane...
Magnus turned his attention to a smaller wolf, bringing the swirling mass of shards to bear on the one attacking Kamotz. He cocked his head to one side, and watched as his spell did its work, then turned and trotted across the open lawn toward Morvannon.

Kylek let out a deep chuckle as he swept the small fortune the tiefling had been carrying into his pack.
This should cover our traveling expenses.
The dagger he looked over appraisingly and then finally thrust it into his belt next to the thick blade he already carried there. He lingered a...
Hmm, now that I think about it, wasn't there a PrC that revolved around collecting a certain rare metal or stone to slowly turn themselves into a living statue and functionally immortal in the process.
After regathering the wits that had been scattered by the huge dwarven abomination Lily set about working her healing mojo, tending the wounds of the others and herself in her own peculiar fashion.
Sorry to be slow, most of my free computer time has been going toward job searching.
Um...
Clyde cast a wary glance toward his companions, then sniffed and turned toward the creatures.
Your friend there let us in. I don't suppose any you all understand the words coming out of my mouth?
Something I've considered is divorcing combat effectiveness from stats a bit.
Give everyone a +4 to hit and damage with bumps every now and again.
Then just let stats effect defenses, riders and skills and the like. I don't know how well it would work, but the stat way that 4e dictates...
A phylactery?
:P
If you're willing to go outside of WotC sources, there was a ritual in Relics & Rituals that could grant immortality if I am remembering correctly. Someone had to die for that though.
Magnus pressed his attack on the immense wolf, swirling his staff another tornado of shards appeared around the lupine to little effect. With an annoyed grunt the dwarf circled around the melee.

Ugh, another miss. Any creature...
Ok, the prevailing opinion on the WotC boards nowadays seems to be that it doesn't count as a MBA because it designates RBA specifically in the text, but that in turn creates some rules oddities. I was kind of surprised though that I couldn't find any reference to a CS response to the issue, so...
