    No Familiars?

Frankly don't care if they were crap - they were an iconic aspect of Wizards and Sorcerers. If you played an arcane caster, you had a funky animal on your shoulder. Its just the way it was. Kind of like, if you played a ranger, you had a pet, and if you played a paladin, you had a magic horse...

    Ok, just tell me Why

Art is very generational and taste driven, and like smell, works well to trigger memory and emotion we are not always aware of. The art in 4E is one of the things that even this early and this skeptical, I am willing to say they did a very good job on. It has a consistent theme and style which...

Why is 4e like World of Warcraft?

All this means is that the Aggro system is 4E is closer to Everquest II's than it is to WoW's. It is still an aggro system. I forget how aggro works in City of Heroes - I never played a tank in that and back when I was playing that the word 'noob' was a very good description of me and MMOs. ;)...

Why is 4e like World of Warcraft?

Not my DMs. they would always target the mages and archers and other backline unless we used an assortment of manuevers to prevent them. Play an MMO without an aggro system - you'll see how my past DMs ran the game. Every mob tries to 'geek the mage' and as a warrior, you spend your energy...

Why is 4e like World of Warcraft?

Thing is... you can't mix these two. Despite the tone of the many posts I've been making so far... I would not put myself in the hate or even dislike camp. I'm in the 'very skeptical about this new RPG that is not DnD no matter what the name on the cover says' camp. Very skeptical for me means...

Why is 4e like World of Warcraft?

I'll just hit your points in series, even though none of them are what is important in comparing the two things. You've basically picked the weak similarities and then argued why they don't apply, rather than addressing the key issues. Talent points of a WoW character are something you've...

    Why are there Classes?

Unlike 9 grid alignment, spells per day, monks, bards, gnomes, 1/2 orcs, druids, assassins, illusionists, familiars, summoning spells, animal companions, and... etc... ? How many cows are left on this ranch anyway? There may be good reasons, but this isn't one of them. I submit that the mother...

    Wired Reviews 4e

2 fanboyz for the price of... whatever. Guess I hit a nerve. Open your 1E book and look up the name of the guy with spells per day and a familiar. Gnome? Not in my PHB. It's a monster in the MM, sure, but it's not in the PHB as a PC race. Neither of you managed to challenge any of the point I...

    They Killed Alignment

Maybe it will get removed in next month's DDi...

    Warforged: MM vs Dragon Magazine

It's a very legit point though... It's pretty bad play on their part to change the rules this early into things. At least wait for the ink to dry on the 4e before putting out pieces of 4.5...

    Wizard Spell per day?

I think I agree with the side of this debate that believes you can any of your dailies in the prep slots, as long as you don't use the same daily twice. It achieves two changes from past editions: 1. No longer does a wizard have a long list of prepared spells they will never use. Almost every...

Am I missing something? Spellcasters and armor?

Well in 4E we can just have the fighter / paladin switch on Aggro and avoid having the backline get hit... :p

    D&D is Back!

This is pretty much a cut and paste of what so many people posted up here when 3E came out. the difference back then was that only a few people were disagreeing with them. It was a very small minority back then, now, it is a vocal segment, possibly not even a minority. But the parts I have...

    4E is NOT a V3.75!

No... Its more like: that's not how oE, 1E, basic, 2E, 2Er, 3E, or 3.5E did it, nor conceived it. You can only kill so many cows before you need to take down the sign that says 'cattle ranch.'

    Wired Reviews 4e

Which edition of first edition did you play? When I look at my old several hundred page DMG and Player's handbooks with no skills or feats or paths, purely random generation, 36 levels, and 9 alignments, the only thing I see in common in random dungeon generation. Plus, 4E has no: .5 orc...

Dragon/DDI content for the Macintosh crowd?

Funny all this, because I play World of Warcraft on my Mac... I also run Hexagon2 on my Mac for making 3D models... And DazStudio for posing assorted pre built figures... So... I don't get it. And if they want to appeal to the iPod generation, going Windows only, they won't be getting it either.

Since 4E is an offline MMO (MMOff?), its only fitting have an MMO reviewer write the article.

    D&D Insider! UP ! (merged)

On the other hand... the person in my semi-former group whose been pushing 4E keeps sending us URLs that are on the other side of the passwording of Insider... Getting kind of annoying. I already pay for accounts on World of Warcraft and Everquest and City of Heroes... I don't need another MMO...

All Your Lands Are Belong to Us

See I'd flip this... Pull out the MM's racial template in the back of the book... PCs are Orcs, Minotaurs, and anything else that can fit in as a level one toon (cause 4E is an MMO, so we're toons now, not characters, but that's another topic :D)... You're all out there enjoying life in the...
