    Reserve Feats and SR

Supernatural abilities are still magical, so AFAIK Spell Resistance still apllies.

    Heroes Season 1(#22)---5/14/07-'Landslide'

That was a pretty graphic and final-looking death scene - I'm inclined to think he's gone for good, short of the dead body being a double of the real Lindermann, but I'm not sure what that would accomplish. In fact, I very much hope that he doesn't come back. The story needs it desperately -...

    Heroes Season 1(#22)---5/14/07-'Landslide'

IIRC the city's making a switch to electronic voting machines - by this fall, the lever-operated ones are going to be illegal - but I don't know what system was chosen. (while they have to go electronic, the touch-screen version is only one of the possible solutions, I think another one that was...

    Heroes Season 1(#22)---5/14/07-'Landslide'

I think we know how Ando's supposed to die - Isaac's comic shows him lying on the ground, twisted and broken as if by Sylar's TK. As for Ted not unleashing radioactive hell... I think people are overlooking the simplest explanation. Ted has no clue what Sylar looks like. He doesn't know Sylar...

    28 Weeks Later

Nah, it's not an alternate universe, it's just magic, disguised as a virus to confuse people until it's too late. Blame Voldemort, who finally got clever. :) It's funny when you think about it, though - the "rage virus" is so far out there, some of the tamer mutants from the X-Men universe are...

    28 Weeks Later

Once it was over, my first reaction to it was "stupidest movie I've ever seen". And it wasn't because of the idiotic movie science - I work with real viruses for a living, if I got upset at every way movies and TV series don't match reality, my blood pressure would probably have killed me by...

    Lost 5/2/07 "The Brig" (spoilers)

Well, here's some stuff relating to the "scientific explanations", from a Q&A session on the Fuselage website: http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?p=1099 Note that I have no strong feelings on the subject - don't really care how they decide to explain it as long as I'm...

    Going to the movies alone

I don't like going to the movies alone. I'll do it if I can't get any of my friends to go and I get too impatient to wait until the next weekend, or sometimes on the spur of the moment when I just feel like getting out of the house, but the significant majority of movies I go to, I go with friends.

    Oots 447

Xykon's a 20th level sorcerer, (the weakest full spellcasting class in the game, at that level, since spells known and access to the right feats are more important than a few extra spell slots) not a demigod. In D&D terms, he's screwed, unless all those characters - many of which clearly are...

Iron Man Armor Revealed (not the tin version) [SPOILERS]

It looks pretty good, sure - but let's face it, as far as costume designs for recent superhero films go, this was going to be a really easy one. Consider - in most other cases, you might have assorted problems: 1. Making the hero not look stupid while sticking to a classic design, because...

    Jericho - anyone still watching?

As far as I know, most soldiers / National Guardsmen get very little training with weapons outside of their specialty, so I don't think it would make a meaningful difference. Then again, it is a TV show, so people will magically have whatever skills are needed.

    Jericho - anyone still watching?

Realistically speaking, using a mortar competently requires a lot more skill than using a gun. There's nothing intuitive about using what's essentially a portable artillery piece, and without a forward observer to correct your fire, you're just guessing.

    Dragonlance: Our LotR?

Who cares what some overrated hack thinks about Tolkien? :p

    Dragonlance: Our LotR?

Never met anyone who claimed to have read the LotR but didn't. (that I could tell) I've met plenty of people who did read it multiple times... Hell, one guy I gamed with had the elven runes from the One Ring tattooed in a band around his forearm. I've read the books multiple times in two...

    Dragonlance: Our LotR?

I'm going to be 30 in a few months, and LotR is the only book which has permanently colored my perceptions of fantasy. I've read it first when I was 12 or so, having read The Hobbit a year or two before that. Sorry, but DL has never even come close to seeming like the living, breathing place...

    Good, recent Fantasy books

Hey, you said "the last few years", not "the last couple of years". Five counts as "a few". Though you clearly have no appreciation for good books, anyway, so I suppose it doesn't matter. ;)

    Good, recent Fantasy books

In no particular order of preference: R. Scott Baker's "Prince of Nothing" trilogy is fun and well written. Steven Erikson's "Malazan Book of the Fallen" series is also pretty good. (though I've heard from a lot of people who it just didn't grab) Tad Williams' "The War of the Flowers" is a...

Who doesn't like an alignment debate?

I don't think we know enough about how this player actually runs his character to say whether he should be able to qualify as CG (one act that doesn't fit your alignment doesn't mean you need to change alignment) but the philosophy you describe sounds pretty Neutral to me. I might actually call...

No Sallah in Indiana Jones IV?

Rhys-Davies got into some trouble (or at least got a bunch of negative publicity, complaints from muslim organisations, etc.) a couple years back for making some decidedly non-PC comments on the Western culture vs. Islam issue... I wouldn't be surprised if the makers of the movie were reluctant...

Would you roll the d4 if...

I voted that I don't like it, but it would be more accurate to say that I don't really like this particular implementation of the idea. Not enough variety, and the risk/reward ratio is really unappealing.
