    "Narrative Options" mechanical?

Hello Good People it was suggested to me, in the Narrative Option thread, to start another for the questioning of the premise - so here we are. I had chimed in, with a few others, that I truly do not see the problem at all. My background: Mentzer Red Box kid who quickly moved on to the...

    Narrative Space Options for non-spellcasters

And apparently, spell powers and skills allow these people to feel this way? I think those players should just play a goddamn fighter/mage and be done with it. It's not as if fighters are actually excluded from a narrative lead, or interaction, outside combat. That's ridiculous. Yeah, I...

    Narrative Space Options for non-spellcasters

This is a very interesting discussion, in that despite reading it, there are people like myself who have no idea what the problem is. Not to a lack of reading comprehension, but something else. What it looks like to me is bad DMing, and munchkinism what with wanting spell abilities the DM...

    Narrative Space Options for non-spellcasters

Yeah, I just haven't seen this as a problem either. I really don't see what class has to do with "narrative space" at all. Weird.

Dodging Fireballs and other Readied Action Sheneigans

I think this whole readied action mechanic breaks my flow. Keep the fireball strong, my friends.

D&D 5E Skills Should Be Core

I see no statement in the article of removing the skill system from the "core", so, whatevs. He said its an optional module, not that it wont be in the 3 books.

    Percentile Systems? Just Say No!

I like percentile systems 47% of the time.

Pathfinder 1E Bardic performance in combat

Well. Why we think the fighter is doing the equivalent of mashing X on a gamepad I don't quite see. But yes I balk at not potentially losing the song when hit with a warhammer, I balk at the implication of somehow spellcasting while singing(?), and, thinking also of the oxygen issue...

Pathfinder 1E Bardic performance in combat

I lol'd at that. I only mean it as an empowerment. I believe in all of your abilities to craft the most awesome games for your groups, sincerely. I do however, disagree that "that is awesome" be the guidepost here. It is a matter of style, not right or wrong. Personally, I don't think...

Pathfinder 1E Bardic performance in combat

I think that a DM needs to wield an axe sometimes. Screw the rules. If the Bard is performing a song, then, guess what - the character is singing a song, loudly, in combat. I would give them -1 to hit and AC, and have to make checks to keep it going when sustaining damage. Your dude is leaping...

Pathfinder 1E To kill a party member. Need ideas.

Say something random, and hit the Inquisitor with a thorny cudgel repeatedly. When he is dead, scream wildly and defecate on his body.

    D&D 5E Thoughts on 6-7-13 Playtest Packet

Well, there is clearly more to Animate Dead's wickedness than that, although I interpret it as circumstantial, and not the spell itself. It just so happens that its most commonly used in an evil way, often accompanied by maniacal laughter.

D&D 3E/3.5 Consequences of a single change to AoO rules for 3.5/d20/Pathfinder?

I haven't tried it yet, but have researched the question enough to know there are GMs out there running it with limitd AoO, and even gridless - I think all RPGs are fairly easily modded, but especially those of the D&D lineage. Just leave the original AoO - withdrawing from combat - so this...

    Albany region, Open Edition D&D

Helloooooooo Geeks B-) I'd be looking to start a game at Zombie Planet, or the Studio of Bridge and Games. I'm an old GM / writer looking to play fast and loose, with mostly no grid. I can make any edition PC work, but PF can be the common reference, being the current standard and freely...

D&D 5E Time to switch from Wis to Cha for representing Willpower

Now that's the spirit : ) Honestly, I prefer letting players choose their appearance, and vary reactions in an organic way. But if the players really like a Comeliness stat, that works too. As a DM its not a whole lot different. Rolled stat vs. chosen appearance, same general modifiers.

D&D 5E Time to switch from Wis to Cha for representing Willpower

I'm sure adding stats would cause the biggest edition war since 1989 : ) I understand the problems and limitations of Comeliness and Sanity, etc. Sanity as a stat was a lot of fun following a lot of BTS and RIFTS play. In our useage, it did function somewhat as you describe - the Sanity...

D&D 5E Time to switch from Wis to Cha for representing Willpower

    1. In many years of play, adding the aforementioned stats was a good solution to the question asked. They are not exceedingly narrow, they actually work very well in D&D type gaming and fill in those blanks in the basic stats without being overkill. 2. I see no reason for unified mechanics...

D&D 5E Time to switch from Wis to Cha for representing Willpower

Hello ENworld, my cherry post... I like just adding a few stats. Circa 2E we all used these: STRENGTH INTELLIGENCE WISDOM DEXTERITY CONSTITUTION CHARISMA COMELINESS PERCEPTION WILLPOWER SANITY LUCK ( this one being a d6 ) So, 10 base stats and a d6 luck points to be spent...
