tablesmith The best solution to this problem, I think, is to require that the full, normal installation of TS is there for the client program to use. Rather than "including" its funcitonality inside another program. Therefore the user would need to have downloaded the TS program, and could...

    What applications do you use?

    What applications do you use?

... I've settled to using; PCGen to do characters (after you trim out the bits you don't use, and... get used to a slightly sedate pace of computing, shall we say... it does the job quite nicely - I think there's a bug in the bonus spells, but I use it only for NPCs, so not a big problem)...

interfaces Yup, I'd like the same sorts of functionality for my initiative program (InitBrowse) the ability to do the following in fact; Call Tablesmith to get a result (treasure specifically) Call Table smith sending in a SEED so I always get the same result (not as silly as it sounds!) Get...

[Metamagic Feat] Burning The Candle (Break-Test Phase)

risk My advice is to intoduce a random element. If the designer's original intent was to allow a caster to risk their health, then you shouldn't have a totaly deterministic system - allowing you to calculate how much you can do removes all risk, and simply makes this a meta-gamer's feat...

    Mini Encounter Contest: Heat One

time... Its a shame, but I just don't have time to read ALL of a batch in time to vote, and I can't really vote having only read one or two... so, poo... :(

    Creature Catalog to be Published

... Mmmm. <devils-advocate> Its that removal of the PDFs that gives the impression of '3 weeks ago there was a free resource now there is the pending "opportunity" to pay for it'. And that tends to give the impression of going around taking away our toys... </devils-advocate> [demn...

    Armor absorbing Damages

    >> How accurate is the notion that someone in plate would be hurt by the average sword blow? Does armor give away like tinfoil, or does it provide significant protection that is hard to overcome? How many blows did it normally take to bring someone down? If we had a good baseline, then we could...

    Armor absorbing Damages

... OK, some devils advocacy, and some random thoughts: Why not a variable amount of damage reduction? For example, maybe leather gives d2-1 damage reduction on a hit, but field plate gives 3d4 damage reduction? If you need to add armor penetration to weapons then it can be represented as a...

    Armor absorbing Damages

... I'm going to make 2 half-posts I think; first up are just some random bits of other system's thinking on armor that might be worth mulling over while thinking about this. Then I'll make my actual thoughts on this a seperate post. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay had armor reduce damage; the...

Luck Points! Feel Lucky, Punk? Well, do ya?

... Hi, thats a really good system (if you've seen my post on the crits thread, you'll know why I like it!) I think you'd need to clear up how evasion abilities interface with the saving throw critical. And you do kind of ass-u-me that people are using critical success and critical failure...

    Critical Effects: Critiques Wanted

... Hi, Well, the rules look well put together, but I'm afraid my comments are pretty negative overall. I'll start with the good bits :) As an aside, I've put together some (alpha at this point) rules for what I term "felling blows", some of your ideas match quite closely with mine, some...

    New Weapon Enhancement: Timestealing

buzz-saw-girl She's 11th level, human fighter. And to be fair, she demonstrates the min-max system well; she has the lowest AC in the group :) Lets see, the PCs are; the human strimmer elven monk - spring attack and mobility fiend gnome wizard, quite normal really elf druid, normal again elf...

    New Weapon Enhancement: Timestealing

... Hrmmm... So; if we hit a hasted char at all, it dispells and hastes, once. If it is ALSO a critical, then it slows? I'd be inclined to back off a bit, and go for; Every hit can dispell a haste on the victim (any number of times). If you score a critical, then you are hasted for the next...

    New Weapon Enhancement: Timestealing

me again When you say that the effect only works once per round, do you mean: A; can only be triggered once per round, no matter how many criticals scored, or who against, or whether saves are passed. B; can only be triggered once per character hit, per round, no matter how many criticals or...

    [D&D] Guns and Ammo

Rate of Fire; Multiple barrels, mate :) There are real examples of double-barrelled cavalry pistiols from around the time of the civil war - that's OUR civil war; the cavaliers and roundheads one ;) In a high-fantasy game, you can also go gattling-gun (I'll mention my campaign where I had...

Should there be a seperate board for all these polls?

Well, the title says it all. There's a whole boat load o'polls out there, should they really glut at the top of the general board?

    New Weapon Enhancement: Timestealing

time-stealing >>But if it only lasts for a round it wouldn't be overpowered.<< Oh yes it would! It may only last a round, but in that round you can hit AGAIN (and its made it easier for you...) Its a self-reciprocating haste-engine., IMO thats pretty broken. Think about it; you hit once...

    Worst Character Name

names My current gnome mage is called; Fonkin Harbuckle which is quite a bad name... Previously I played a dwarf fighter called Dagus Goatbeard. In a twilight 2000 game there was a character (not mine!) called Bob Lawrence Zeebub But the king of bad names is one of our players who is...
