How do you run a Dungeon as a Skill Challenge?

I have seen several posts talking about it, but no in depth explanations: Just what is involved in running a large dungeon as a skill challenge rather than mapping out the whole darn thing? I could immagine trying to DM the Fellowship through the Mines of Mordor, them getting lost and leveling...

HELP! Need to fast-forward my Plot

Don't forget the Eclipse, can't go wrong with a good eclipse. The party can always arrive to the Great Dungeon of Mega Doom to retreive the sword, only to meet the Slightly Less Powerful Adventurnig Party just leaving having retreived the sword.

I'm DM'ing a Player Who Just Announced his Bard is a Kleptomaniac Pickpocket. Crap.

This. Have someone who's pocket he just picked, be brutally murdered/assassinated just moments after for the plot hook the PC just stole. Although the Magic Mouthed purse screaming "Help! Help! I'm being violated!" is always good for a few yucks as well.

Help me name my Cowboys & Dragons 4e setting

Dragontrain If only it was orcs, you could go with WaaughHide Little Dungeon on the Prairie Dragon Riders in the Sky! Dragon Rustlers By the way, you need immigrant goblin labor building the railroad. EDIT: ninja'd on Dragontrain High Noon Under Seven Moons Call guns Draguns (they...

    "I'm good at D&D"

While " Good at D&D" may be a questionable phrase, "Bad at D&D' seems quite viable.

Joke Names you've never used...but want to.

I keep threatening to play a halfling whose family owns a large orchard: Justin Ciderbottom. He has two brothers, named Dustin and Dickens.

    "Groundhog day"-like adventure?

If there is any repeated combat ancounters, you need hefty and cumulative to hit and damage bonuses each time the characters repeat it, this will both represent their familiarity with these individual combatants, as well as speed things up, even to the point of one shot kills about the 5th time...

    Professional GM: Possible Return

A suggestion for additional sources of revenue as a Mercenary DM, don't overlook the lucrative world of Corporate Sponsorship and in-game Product Placement. Player1: Crap, that last orc nearly killed me, I drink one of my healing potions. DM: As the cool refreshing taste of the Grape Jolt...

So, wait, does this extrapolate out to Sorcerer/MC Rogue-Daggermaster? Or was this answered ages ago with warlocks?

Reach Weapons for a Warlord (Resourceful)

Yes, gather around younglings, and this greybeard will tell you the tale of the animated Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.... Gods I feel old, not just because I own all the animated Tolkien, but because this is NEW to some people... I'll put this on the list of things that Bilbo Baggins Hates.

Dungeon Crawl Classics - Sellswords of Punjar Acual Play

I am interested in hearing this play out, I really liked the little Punjar gazetteer from Free RPG day, the place reads somewhere between Sanctuary, and City State of the Invincible Overlord, and I am considering running the module. The character creation cast is way too long, but amusing for...

    D&D 4E 4e Help Me Break It!

It looks like my group will be going over to 4th ed and my DM wants us to try some mid level combat, he has asked that we come up with the most powerful characters we can for lvl 15, using standard array for stats, and standard magic items, starting cash for that level. I'm also looking at...

    Into the Shadowhaunt - help!

I too am looking for a copy of this, I think it would make a great intro to be followed up with the DMGs Kobold Hall. This may give the players enough xp to be 2nd before they hit the End Boss.

    Question about power-gaming.

What you need to watch out for now, it not the Munchkin Character, but the Munchkin Party. If your resident Powergamer wants to "help" the other players craft their characters then watch out.

    Feats and Skills by Stat

In interest of furthering the discussion, I edited the original post to add Skills by stat, here's what I added: *SKILLS* STR (1 Skill) - Athletics CON (1 Skill) - Endurance DEX (3 Skills) - Acrobatics - Stealth - Thievery INT (3 Skills) - Arcana - History - Religion WIS (5 Skills) -...

    Feats and Skills by Stat

In fairness, there is a greater economy in some feats, Ritual casting encompasses ALL the 3.x magic item creation feats, and Wizards get that one for free. Jack of All Trades provides the equivalent up to +28 3.x skill points, even more with the broader application of fewer skills in 4e.

Don't worry, I'm sure that the upcoming "Martial Powers" handbook will even things up nicely... :D
