WotC to Release 1st Edition Premium Core Rulebooks Reprints

It can't hurt. Or you can see if a US retailer could ship it to you and others gamers outside the US.

How do you feel about the future of D&D after the official announcements?

I find myself somewhere between neutral and positive. I barely played any 4E and I am an active Pathfinder player. Yet, I think that the new edition could be good for our hobby. However, I think it will be hard if not impossible to reunify a greatly fragmented base. Also, it seems that a LOT...

WotC to Release 1st Edition Premium Core Rulebooks Reprints

This is a very generous action by WotC to support a great cause. It should generate some sales and I am tempted to pick up the books if I have money. (My old set fell apart ages ago.)

    Coming Soon!

This is a good news for EN World, although I did not automatically recognize Matt James.

D&D 5E What big thing is supposed to be next week?

These are indeed interesting times. I am not certain how I feel about this development and will think about what to post a little later. I thought that there would be an announcement of some sort, possibly, at the D&D Experience.

D&D 5E What big thing is supposed to be next week?

Oh, I think that this little ditty gives an idea of what WotC might have wanted to do if you broke the embargo. (Here is a hint -- it's hotter than Italian Beef.) Fifteen birds - the Hobbit - YouTube

D&D 5E What big thing is supposed to be next week?

Someone does have a question: "Are they tasty, my precioussss?" On a more serious note, I think that the move to have playtesting of a new "iteration" of Dungeons and Dragons is a wise move. Feedback is important. (I remember playing an early version of 3.0 at one Gen Con... which helped...

D&D 5E What big thing is supposed to be next week?

We will know soon enough. I do agree that the news would have to be pretty big to garner the attention of mainstream media. So, I will await the news.

    Operation: Power Level Gary

Have you give Gary Gygax xp today? Whether you have or not, think about how wonderful that we had one of the creators of Dungeons and Dragons here in the past to answer questions and share stories. Hmm, did Dave Arneson also have an account on these boards? (I hate referring to both Gygax...

    A mini-rant re: Pathfinder and D&D

I think supporting the brands of what games we play is important. I may use Dungeons and Dragons in talking to a non gamer when I discuss Pathfinder. Or I may say Pathfinder, similar to Dungeons and Dragons. Regardless of what we play, we can treat each other with respect. In the end, we...

D&D 5E What big thing is supposed to be next week?

They may be included either in the new books "Stuff that We Had to Leave Out at First" or the "Book of Neurotic Fantasy"

D&D 4E WotC, DDI, 4E, and Hasbro: Some History

I am not sure what all this means for WotC and a 5th Edition game. I could see a push to keep 4E as is and Hasbro decide to reevaluate it. Or I could see a company like Hasbro wanting to give a name brand a chance to become a major brand in their company. One thing that I am certain of is...

    D&D 5E Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition OGL?

I think that an OGL would be good for 5E. It might produce adventures and other products that would allow WotC to focus on the core rules. (A common complaint about WotC for the past decade is that other companies produce better adventures. However, unless Pathfinder sales dropped...

    If Hasbro Pulls the Plug....

The feedback also would help in giving customers a feeling that they had an input into the game. Perhaps one thing that may not have been stressed enough is that gamers have a feeling that something is THEIR game. Getting people emotionally invested in a concept is often a good way to get them...

    Operation: Power Level Gary

Is anyone else willing to step up to boost Gary to the top of the ranks. Also, maybe a custom title "Grand Magus" or "Lord of Castle Greyhawk?"

    If Hasbro Pulls the Plug....

If Hasbro pulled the plug, I would be sad. I have meet a lot of people who like 4E and enjoy it. Sure, there would be some small news items, but I think that the gaming public would adapt. I would imagine that we would see a lot of the folks at WotC moving elsewhere. I am not sure what sales...

4 Hours w/ RSD - Escapist Bonus Column

At a local game shop in NW Indiana, the owner has said that 4E stuff moves much more slowly than Pathfinder. There is much more Pathfinder material there as well. As for the 3E boom, there was a lot of bad stuff. However, there also was a lot of good ideas. I really enjoyed some great stuff...

Why Aren't RPGs in Public Libraries?

I would imagine this is indeed a problem. I thought that I might give an idea for something that could benefit libraries and gaming groups.
