TWF with a THW & IUS?

Allow me to preface by saying that I allow any unarmed strike, not just a monk's, to be performed using any body part. In my view, you do not need to be a dedicated martial artist in order to headbutt someone or knee somebody in the groin. Beyond that, I'm extrapolating based on the armor...

What's better Power Attack vs. Weapon Focus

Power Attack. It's versatile and it leads to other things.

    Fighting "Mr. T"

Indoor terrain and that Rush are also going to present a problem. Unless you're either flying, or in a truly huge room it's pretty much Lose A Guy 1/minute. Using walls of force as archer screens might be worth looking into, and at 5th level it's within reach of the wizard. It's not a great...

    Fighting "Mr. T"

To be fair, however: relative, in this case, means +20. With an SR of 32 that needs to be punched thru first. Also won't necessarily save the rest of the party from being consumed. As far as Mr T is concerned, his new BFF just brought lunch with him, because he's ever so thoughtful.

Help me find a Cleric spell, please.

*nod* Burial Blessing. Also, if animation as the undead is a threat: cremate the body. I would imagine in a culture where the threat of necromancy was a significant historical event, that would pretty much be the norm. You get a headstone or other icon, your body is reduced to ashes and the...

TWF with a THW & IUS?

The attack penalties for TWF remain the same regardless if you're using a shortsword in each hand, or using a greatsword and headbutting people. The only real issue that I see arising is the division of your strength modifier. Normal 2h weapon: 1.5 str mod. Two 1h weapons: main hand gets 1x...

    Lost five caster levels? ...ouch.

Would you let your player do this?

*shrug* I'd just let him retrain his barbarian levels as Rage Barbarian instead of Archery Barbarian. Same as if a fighter wanted to retrain his feats or a sorcerer wanted to retrain his known spells. Focus on maximizing the fun. Bookkeeping should come second.

    Fighting "Mr. T"

Catch him sleeping. Assay Resistance, Plane Shift to the Positive Energy Plane and pray hard he blows his will save. Have someone who can Plane Shift, use a pawn sacrifice (summoned creatures possibly) or use some telekinesis to cruise up to Big T and set off an Astral Suicide Harness: stuff a...

Question for those who played the "Baldur's Gate" cRPGs (spoilers)

That'd be kinda tough. Particularly keeping the character ignorant of their own abilities. A tiefling, even if they look almost completely human, would eventually figure out that most normal fires don't hurt them at all, they can create an area of supernatural shadow, and can see perfectly...

Question for those who played the "Baldur's Gate" cRPGs (spoilers)

Nah. Tieflings are a speciffic case: humans with a trace of fiend blood somewhere back in their ancestory. Not all Bhaalspawn are human, they don't all have the same abilities - what abilities they do have are based on their alignment and 'other' factors - and Bhaal wasn't a fiend. He was a...

In your campaign, can the PCs "lose"

Heh, funny you should mention that... My campaign is basically a D&D/CoC game set in a modified Forgotten Realms. There've been ominous hints of mythos stuff here and there, psionics and far realms goodness, but I have yet to drop the hammer. The PCs don't fully realize they're in a CoC game...

Banning Fly, Improved Invisibility, Dimension Door, and Teleport

Your ire seems imbalanced. It seems to mostly hinder an arcanist while leaving many other classes alone. Druid can still wildshape into a flying form, alter self can let you fly, many classes can achieve near-invisibility via ridiculous hide checks (particularly with HiPS as a factor)...

In your campaign, can the PCs "lose"

Oh yes, my PCs can lose. There are even instances when winning is losing, just along a longer timeline. Actions have reprocussions, and the PCs actions don't exist in a vacuum. As the old writing guideline goes: don't feature a rifle above the mantlepiece in the first act, unless it gets...

DMs - What rolls do you make for your players?

Spot, Listen - nothing spoils a supprise like "Make a spot check... oh you see nothing" Passive (opposed) Sense Motive - same as above. calling for sense motive checks out of the blue is a big tip-off. Appraise - not that it ever gets used, but yeah. Your estimate is your estimate...

    Can gnomes talk to rats?

Well it's Speak with Animals, limited to burrowing mammals. Ants are neither animals nor mammals. Hobbits are humanoids. Rabbits? Absolutely fit. They're even mentioned in the language section right above that spell-like ability. "In addition, a gnome can speak with a burrowing mammal (a...

    Can gnomes talk to rats?

A lot of animals that burrow don't have a burrow speed. Burrow speed just means they can dig really, really quickly. Rats should definitely qualify.

    OotS #428

Joking jab aside, Xykon probably wouldn't bother. We know he's not exactly the A #1 when it comes to forethought, and Mind Blank protects against 2 things: divinations, and enchantments. As a lich, he's already immune to almost all of the enchantment half the equation, and why blow an 8th...

Think radiation burns. Obvious that damage has been done to the body, but it's not the same as if they'd been charred with fire, etc.
