Adding a werewolf template to an existing character, help please!

Both my DM and I have decided to not use this. As stated somewhere in the MM, it says these alignments are based on common perceptions of the base animal, in this case wolves, and can be made arbitrary. Wolves are commonly thought to be evil, sinister creatures, but this is just human perception...

Adding a werewolf template to an existing character, help please!

Well, I tossed all my skill points from level 12 into Control Shape, so I have a decent chance at controlling it. Obviously this let some other skills be negelcted, but I can live with that. While I am an lvl 14 character, I am still only a lvl 12 swordsage right? The extra 2 HD only effect my...

Adding a werewolf template to an existing character, help please!

Ok, my character has contracted lycanthropy, and is now an afflicted werewolf. I have been reading over the MM about adding the template to my character, but I have never had to deal with LA before, or templates. I am confused on to how exactly I add this template to my pre-existing character...

    Barbarian is up!!!

Phaezen, you left out the most important part of that statement in your quote, that I feel that balances out. :) I just want to repeat I have no issues with the ability as it is. I'm merely brainstorming possible changes with KM as what he sees as a problem.

    Barbarian is up!!!

Yup, I see where you are coming from. Perhaps adding some sort of class feature power that you can use SOLELY to power Rage Strike until you get your level 5 daily, at which point it becomes useless? Or perhaps making Rage Strike usable without expending a rage to do so, but at the cost of being...

    Barbarian is up!!!

They do not stack. While you get a class feature at 5, you are down one that you would otherwise have until that level. Balances out in my mind. Perhaps I am in the minority, but I have no problem with rage strike not being usable until level 5. Doesn't bother me in the slightest, since its...

    Primal Defender - any guesses?

Off topic, but if you happen to pick up Ari's Advanced Player's Guide, check out the "nature priest", its a controller druid who pretty much does just that :) His barbarian is a defender too! Good book, for what it's worth.

    Barbarian is up!!!

Some classes are better suited for some races than others, I fail to see a problem. Thats like telling me the artful dodger rogue suffers from "everyone can do it but halflings/drow can do it better" syndrome. Unless I am misinterpreting your statement here as a complaint when it is in fact not one.

    Barbarian is up!!!

Yes it did get lost :) Its a nice idea on the surface, however, there is a slightly hidden problem with that. Doing it that way, you are basically getting an "extra" use of your daily that way. First you use the daily to deal the listed damage/effect and enter your rage. Then, you lose your rage...

    Barbarian is up!!!

I personally have no issue with it not being usable until 5th level, I was merely offering a potential solution to someone who did find the idead clunky. I actually like the mechanic as its written. I think to many people are going crazy without doing any playtesting, some stuff that people...

    Barbarian is up!!!

Also, on the mention of orcs (well, ok half-orcs), IMO far and away the coolest art in the whole article is the dwarf surrounded by the orcs. The look on the dwarf's face is priceless. Anyone else feel like those orcs are in for a surprise?

    Barbarian is up!!!

If you cant use it until level 5, dont give it out until level 5. Problem solved, and the mechanic (which I happen to like) still works.

    Barbarian Playtest Poll

Thats a very good point, for whatever reason I was thinking the power names were based on class, not power source. But double checking my PHB it definitely seems they are based on the power source. So that puts rages right out. However, I think "rites" can still work for a barbarian and a druid.

    Barbarian Playtest Poll

Yeah, thats how I see the barb going, with bonuses when raged, which wil probably happen while hes bloodied. To clarify, I think the barb will kinda be the opposite of a fighter: fighter is a primary defender with secondary striker capabilities, while the barb will be primary striker with...

    Barbarian Playtest Poll

I'm gonna guess striker with defender undertones. EDIT: To guess the name of their powers, I think they will be called primal "rages". Just seems to obvious to not use :)

    New 4E covers up!

Yay! Reynolds artwork! I was just hoping that he would do some 4e work in the the MM2 cover thread. Has he done any other art for 4E that Im just not paying attention enough to catch? He is simply amazing, and I love his work.

    Anemic Horses

I do! I, for one, welcome our rope-climbing horse overlords. But what about jumping? Also based on strength, and much more likely to come up with a horse. Need to jump that fence to get away? Uh oh! How much are you carrying? Sorry to add fuel to this fire that just wont die :)
