Can you bring up the quote then? I've been in the trenches the past few days, so may have lost track of my ongoing arguments.

A friend of mine helped me figure out why I feel like odd man out on these forums. I'm content with not getting my way all the time.

I never hear any gorgnard talk about how their woodworking saved their party from a TPK. Or a DM on how many ranks of perform comedy the town jokester should have. Or hear a power gamer brag about how they got a +50 on their craft (cheese) skill and broke a game with it.

So keep combat roles out of the PHB and put them in the DMG instead? The DM does resemble a director in some ways.

Maybe in your games! People fought tooth and nail to bring crafting back after 4E tried to kill it. And don't doubt the power of music either.

But lots of people ignored those rules. We shouldn't let something as trivial as the "books" and "rules" control how we play the game, should we???

So people would liked 4E more if it was written in Gygaxian prose???

Thats why we need to convert to a master/disciple system. Every Enworlder could take a newer DM under their wing and teach'em how it's done.

Every DM has different experiences. That means every DM will be different. Therefore, they will then have different needs and play in different ways. If you want a game where the rules make everyone conform to a specific style of play, there's always 4th Edition.

I propose "Calvin Ball" become required reading for all DMs

Fiction lawyering- to use the fiction in the same way a rules lawyer would use rules So Enworlders, tell me about all the times you used the fiction to pull one over your DM. Or found some strange loop hole to get what you wanted. Or used careful reasoning to discover some strange interaction...

Don't you know many people ignore vast amounts of rules and math in D&D and rely on the fiction and DM judgement??

Ironic answer: We could have some type of type of voting system where everyone can approve or disapprove things. Enworlders could get large questionaries where they can submit their preferences. Then we could measure it all and average it all out. Answer in the form of a video:
