Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

No worries! I volunteered because I'd like to use these and I already have a blank card template I have used for a lot of other cards I made for our game - condition references and such :) It's in Word but that's trivially cut to PDF. If other folks want to do the hard part by posting the...

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

Awesome! Do you happen to have a file with all this space out for printing? If not I'll come to the party and produce a couple of PDFs with a ready-to-print-on-card layout.

    Mark of Healing

Interesting. In my games seriously muchkining heal-bots like this will eventually run into a L+3 or L+4 encounter with intelligents (artilleries with a synergised soldier or three) that will focus-fire him the first time he pulls that in front of them. One round of good DM rolls and that...

Which character sounds the most fun

Well I have to disagree with that! My wife currently plays an Elven Cleric. Of Melora. The character was found by a female Dwarven Cleric with no related Elves within scores of miles and several months solid searching. The female Dwarf is a clan matriarch and she pulled some favours to try...

    Encounter difficulty with 3 players

How about "bench testing" your encounters? It sounds like a good option for those of us who don't get to D&D weekly.

Any other DDI Character Builder Sheet Templates?

As a database professional I can tell you "yes, but". Yes it can be extracted and loaded into a database. However, if Wizards changes the basic structure of the file this will break the ability to import said files. And this will happen from time to time (it's one of the banes of my...

    Design Challenge: Utilizing Fantastic Terrain

Nice! You know that soft, crumbly block foam florists use to set their flowers, etc in? Taht stuff is awesome for this kind of multi-level work. You can just cut it up to the dimensions desired with a knife and ruler. You can even go crazy and glue stuff to it (like textures from map tools...

    Longtooth Shifter Regen

Oh I was just stirring because you called them functions (as we all do), when OO purists would hassle us because they are properly methods :-) It reads like "good C", not hard OO C++. Yes good call re dropping the thread-jack... Don't want the mods to get cranky ;-) (And I thought it was...

    Longtooth Shifter Regen

There are no functions in OO ;-) I would have understood it because I have coded in it for years... In fact I used to teach it (C, C++ and *ugh* even C#) :-D

    Troubles with players.

Look it boils down to this... If you don't like how they are behaving, tell them and/or stop them. If they won't then make it clear they are diminishing your enjoyment. And if it still continues? Pass the baton as DM and possibly even leave the group if it doesn't suit your own play style...

    Open Source D&D World

Well I'd use whatever name you come up with for the world :D Unless you have a specific idea in mind you'll probably be best off trying to gather your admin/mod team and work through it with them. You could recruit in a thread on this site and then take the private discussion to email.

As a veteran of many online group environments I strongly suggest you get togethor a panel of competent mods and a couple of admins and hash out the groundrules first.

    Troubles with players.

Ah challenging players. It's your job to train teach them - think of them like children. I haven't read all the responses yet but here's my thoughts... All of this is solvable without houseruling IMHO. Don't make your dungeons static! They might have space for a 5 or 15 or 60 minute rest...
