What's your favorite play style for your D&D games?

Monte's official poll results have been tallied. Let's compare. In the single-choice poll as of 05 Feb 2012, EN World at 9:11 PM Pacific Time... EN World on the Left - Wizards.com Results on the Right Votes - % - Option - WotC % - WotC Votes 33 - 29.20% - Fast and simple - 16.7% - 440 26 -...

How much has world-creation been important to you?

I find published settings the best tool for building my own world. Which might sound odd since I answered "I always use my own world". I never used it but does anyone use books like Stronghold Builder's Guidebook for world building?

Character Actor, Power Gamer, Storyteller, and Thinker

Humans are too complex to fit into simple categories but we also need to approximate them in order to build up ways to understand the world around us.

    Chance of PC Failure

Actually, there is a big difference in "risk" between a 20% chance of failure and a 0% chance of failure. If climbing Mt. Rainier (in the state of Washington, USA) had a 20% chance of killing you then it would be foolish to try, though some still would. As it is I believe climbing Mt. Rainier...

D&D 5E Which of these settings do you want to see for D&D Next?

WotC R&D took a lot of ideas from outside Eberron and used them as inspirations for Eberron but the core concept of those other two settings would still be distinct from Eberron which has a specific theme (was it Pulp/Noir aka Indiana Jones + Maltese Falcon). Bill Slavicsek mentioned that...

    Character Creation Mini-Game?

I like to make characters. Even if I never get a chance to play them. Do most people like the character creation mini-game?

D&D 5E Skills in 5E. Do we want them?

I desire long lists of skill specializations but no skill points. A narrow gap between the bonus for skilled and unskilled party members.

Which core races have you played?

What iconic mythological "races" have never appeared in quantity in core D&D?

D&D 5E How would you like 5e to handle combat roles.

The roles, at least according to 4th edition, are: 1. Leader 2. Defender 3. Striker 4. Controller The most popular poll response has been "Everyone can play each role but in different ways." (I agree everyone should be a striker because killing monsters = fun.) Can we see examples? 1. How...

D&D 5E You know what? I'm frustrated at how long 5e is gonna take.

Publicly release the full rules in playtest version ASAP. Release the final, well-tested, rules much later.

Brand New Players: Make Character, or use Sample Character?

I don't really enjoy hand-holding new players through character creation. I would never want to play a pre-generated character.

Core Classes: What and how many

Would you buy the 5th edition Player's Handbook if it had only four (4) classes. Period. 1. Cleric / Priest / Whatever you want to call holy warrior - heal bot 2. Fighter / Warrior 3. Thief / Rogue 4. Wizard / Magic-user Yes? No?

    D&D 5E Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition OGL?

I've already published my thoughts on the OGL for D&D. The OGL made a lot of money for Chris Pramas but I'm certain it made 10x that or more for Hasbro.

    Attacks of Opportunity

Attacks of opportunity add a huge amount of bookkeeping to deciding exactly how to move your character and what squares you will or will not enter throughout your move. That said, Oppies also add a strong tactical strategy to the game. I said ditch AoO because I think the game has gotten too...

    Level of Play

This poll seems to align with D&D v.3.5's Epic 6 as well as continued insights by WotC employees. This type of poll setup is exactly something that should be run over at Wizards.com. Has anyone seen its like over there?

D&D 5E Which of these settings do you want to see for D&D Next?

The setting contest that produced the Eberron Campaign Setting (and generated 11,000 entries!) also produce two other finalist entries that were fairly fleshed out. As far as I know Wizards of the Coast has never released any details about those other two settings. I'd like to see those two...

D&D 5E When do you think 5E will come out?

It seems like there is still a lot of work left to be done and it will feel rushed if they force it too early. More testing is better for the long-term revenue of Wizards of the Coast so this version has the mechanical "legs" to survive 10 years of play and expansion.

D&D 5E Should classes retain traditional alignment restrictions in 5E?

Should D&D have flaws that are independent of class choice and should paladin-code be a flaw with drawbacks and corresponding minor mechanical benefits you get for subjecting yourself to the restrictions? Could "evil" (aka the old Assassin alignment requirement) be a flaw with drawbacks and...

What's your favorite play style for your D&D games?

As linked in my OP, Monte Cook is running this same poll over at Wizards.com. Do you think his poll results will line up roughly the same with these poll results? Have you voted in Monte's official poll?
