Top 20 monster minis wish list

I'd like to see iconic fantasy creatures from the core Monster Manual. 1. Some fey! As far as I can recall we haven't yet gotten many, if any, fey. 2. The smaller dragons with poses like the Large Red Dragon from Dragoneye. 3. Iconic humanoids with more variety in character class. Cleric...

Does Enworld have a major impact in the D20 market?

ENWorld has two impacts that I can think of (though these aren't necessarily original ideas): 1. We "spread the word" by writing reviews, sharing our opinions, and generally making everyone more informed about D20 game material. ENWorld doesn't reach everyone but it reaches a lot of people...

Products You'd Like WoTC to do

    1. Another vote for Expanded Oriental Adventures. And a book to follow it up four months later called Complete Orient. 2. A Draconomicon-style book about giants and another one about fey. These should be heavy on art content. 3. A book about goblinoids and orcs called Races of the Horde...

Yes, that information exists for Kingdoms of Kalamar but I see no reason why WotC can't also do books on this topic.

    A rant on ASF

Unfortunately, neither of those reasons for wearing chainmail instead of a breastplate are supported by the rules or the Player's Handbook. Because roleplaying restrictions (DM or self-imposed) and availability aren't written down anywhere they can't provide rules balance. Many games will...

    A rant on ASF

I suspect you're confused because I was too brief and not clear. There are penalties associated with wearing armor without proficiency. For a wizard to wear armor usefully they should need proficiency with said armor. Most wizards get armor proficiency by taking one, and only one, level of...

    D&D Miniatures Championship

I looked for a topic on this already and I'm surprised I couldn't find one. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mit/20050728a Using a set map for D&D Miniatures will really change the way the game is played for the Championship. What do you think about the differences between play using...

    A rant on ASF

I hope the armor restrictions are removed from magic, or at least relaxed, in 4th edition. To balance that out I'd dole out armor proficiency a little slower than Light, Medium, Heavy, and Shields all at first level for many full fighting classes.

Musings: Early 2006 releases from Wizards

Most of the humanoid races you mention are playable as PCs so they'd probably be better to cover in a "Races of" book instead. I agree with you that this should be done by WotC as soon as possible. :D Draconomicon, Libris Mortis, and Lords of Madness focus on creatures that are too high ECL...

Why don't companies show people how to use their books?

90% of the in depth fluff that now comes with WotC prestige classes doesn't fit my worlds or my conception of D&D but I don't fault them for including it. I've seen enough complaints about the lack of ready made fluff for prestige classes to understand that I'm in the minority. What I need...

    Themed Books

Now that we've seen Races of the Dragon for release in 2006 what should be next in line? Races of Faerun (was this 3rd edition?) Races of Stone (dwarf, gnome, goliath, and stonechild) Races of Destiny (human, half-orc, half-elf, illumian, and many others) Races of the Wild (elf, halfling...

How terrible is the multiclass XP penalty?

Why are racial favored classes, multiclass restrictions, and XP penalties needed in v.3.5? The heavily front loaded classes like Paladin and Ranger were toned down. Especially with spellcasting there are big drawbacks to multiclassing. Aren't those problems enough without adding XP penalties...

    ECL Races, EVER worth it?

Monsters could more easily transition between PC and NPC if a lot fewer at will abilities were given out by game designers. Perhaps that design philosophy might catch on if it really is true that monsters should be treated as a threat based on using their abilities only a few times.

    March 2006 FR Release

I admit that Complete Psion isn't perfect but Complete Psionic is weird. There is no such thing as a Psionic. Complete Psychic would be best but probably not D&D enough (and perhaps already taken by Green Ronin). Just using the terminology from creature entries (like Mind Flayers) in the...

    March 2006 FR Release

Races of the Dragon is likely all about Kobolds and Lizardmen. Hopefully it will have a "new" race like Goliaths, Raptorans, and Illumians. And that race should be a useful, LA +0 humanoid (reptilian), and scaly PC option. I'd like Complete Psionic (shouldn't that be Psion instead?) to...

    Goblinoides

Almost Mongrelfolk in 3rd edition are described and depicted as mostly mixed breed goblinoids though the rules mechanics support them being descended from humans, elves, dwarves, haflings, goblins, orcs, &c.

    Whole lotta lurkin' goin' on

Lurking is a good way to stay informed and not make a fool of yourself. I read ENWorld for two years before I ever opened an account. After I signed up my postcount stayed under 5 for another six months. Only recently* did I start posting regularly. Hopefully my plan worked and I'm not...

    Character Equality

I see a lot of complaints about creating encounters and NPCs for D&D games by DMs. Are any of you who voted for "just right" swayed by the argument that a linear power curve would make game prep easier? By linear growth I really meant that two level 20 characters would be roughly equal even if...
