Some Advice on Building a Wizard

I believe this is the complete list from the PHB: Begulier spell list. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other list that Stream's talking about. That is, I haven't seen a different one online (then again, my group wouldn't allow it anyway). BTW, if you chose to take the Minor Shapeshift feat...

    Looking for a PrC that...

Perhaps you're talking about Pious Templar from Complete Divine? If you make a Fort or Will save that has a partial affect you ignore it. BTW, that's only one of several classes, IIRC, that offer Mettle. Hmm, Hexblade comes to mind but it's a base class.

    Designing party encounters

What's funny to me is that in a world I've run at least five times the first encounter for the PCs is .... an ankheg! Never had any real problem with it.

Some Advice on Building a Wizard

If you're willing to take a 1-2 level dip in order to have a beaucoup of spells and greater punch to them, I recommend the Ultimate Magus (from Comp. Mage, I believe). Ultimate Magus Handbook If you go Begulier/Wizard, you can specialize in Wiz by dropping Illusion (and Necromancy is my other...

    Summon Monster and reserve feats?

It depends on your DM actually. Under Summon Monster: so as you suspected when you summon a Fire Elemental it becomes a spell of fire type. However, the Reserve feats usually require you to have a spell of that type still available to cast. Summon monster is untyped, until you cast it. So...

    First Time DM

Don't be afraid to kill. Or to fudge the dice for whatever outcome you want. And definitely don't be afraid to do something completely different from every DM you've ever seen ("Um, sorry, this red dragon breathes acid!"). Most common mistake I've seen for new DMs is how to start encounters...

    Salvaging a Friend's Rogue

Especially if you can convince your DM to treat rapier as a light weapon.

    Salvaging a Friend's Rogue

Well, right off the bat, the 16 STR score indicates to me that he's a 'fightin' rogue which may well be why he's dying all the time. Is he properly flanking, hiding, etc? Or did he take rogue because he likes to steal things and make the occasional huge amount of damage? I imagine it's more of a...

    D&D 3E/3.5 (3.5) co-op crafting ?

I would not allow it as explained, for several reasons. 1) AFAIK, there's nothing that allows co-crafting. In fact, all the verbiage in crafting and creating magic is singular (the 'crafter', the 'creator'). Yes, there are ways to co-cast spells (in order to get a higher level spell) but I doubt...

    D&D 3E/3.5 Traps and AC question -3.5-

Hmm, how about: Now, in practice (not RAW), many DMs, especially the old school or lazy (both, me) DMs, simply treat traps as a DC check instead of having an attack, etc. So AC doesn't come into play.

    Detect Evil & Native Outsiders...

If you follow RAW, an outsider is an outsider. The #1 note on the table says "except for undead or outsiders" so any evil outsider would be under the evil outsider row. I never really thought about it, but I do the same thing as Stream. To me, an evil outsider is an evil creature, but an Evil...

    D&D 3E/3.5 Traps and AC question -3.5-

I'm not sure what you are getting at here. It sounds like you are saying that one is also flat-footed if you you fail to disarm or intentionally trigger the trap. I don't think that's right. There's nothing I can think of that says you don't get your Dex if you fail to disarm or intentionally...

    Need some help

I would think that the key to winning a PvP is to come up with something so unusual that the other players would have no defense for it. I did something similar back in 1e and I trashed everyone else because I played a Monk with a staff of Anti-Magic. Everyone else had all these magic items...

    Questions about the Spellthief

I only scanned the previous posts and didn't see an answer to #1, so forgive me if someone has already answered. The question you asked is in reference to the spell Blink (listed as a Core Spell in the handbook): Blink: combine that with sneak attack: So if you use the spell Blink you can sneak...

    Looking for characterbuilding advice

Hmm, low magic. Can't channel? Would the Vow of Poverty (from Book of Exalted Deeds) be acceptable? Just means you can't have magic items and you get a bunch of bennies. I'm just wondering if that breaks the idea of no magic, divine in this case. Also kind of works with a historical Gladiator...

    D&D 3E/3.5 A question for 3.5 rules

I presume you are talking about the Headband of Intellect. Sorry, but it doesn't add skill points (from the DMG): For spell slots, there is some argument. See this thread. I, personally, believe that the headband gives you extra spell slots and DC.

    Arcane Fist

I see what you are getting at because I left some things out, but no. The entire entry for Arcane Fist: Thus, even if you have Rapid Fist to give you two stun attempts, you can still only "spend one ...attempt(s) to deliver a ... as part of a full unarmed attack action." So you can choose to...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Find the path

It can be problematic. To my mind, it's a question of specificity. You are attempting to locate a specified location which, by definition, is a specific or definite named location. "Nearest entrance to an extra-dimensional space" is not specifically named. "Gate of the Seven Worlds" is a...

D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Can you use one classes spell slots to boost another classes metamagic?

Normally, no. However, if you had two separate arcane classes (like Wiz and Begulier) the Ultimate Magus Prc allows you to use up a spell slot of one class to apply the equivalent metamagic feat (e.g. you burn a 1st level spell to do Silent Spell). I don't believe there's anything like that...

    Arcane Fist

Actually it does. It says as part of an "unarmed full attack action." Since (unless you have something that allows two or more full attack actions in a round) you can only make one a round, you may only do one Arcane Fist a round. Rapid Fist doesn't allow you to make two full attacks a round...
