    2d10 rather than d20?

I guess you should also make attack rolls and saves always fail on 2s. Alternatively, you could replace the straight d20 with 2d8+d6-2 or the middle result of 3 d20s.

    Ranger using Shield

Pbartender, I can't see where it says you can't use a twohanded weapon and armor spikes as an off hand weapon. After some grappling rules it says: "You can also make a regular melee attack (or off-hand attack) with the spikes, and they count as a light weapon in this case." - I don't see any...

    Ranger using Shield

I'm pretty sure you can. You just can't attack with all three at once. The SRD text for spiked armor says it can't be used with other twf attacks. But it seems like it can be used to TWF with a twohanded weapon :D

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] No good reason to get rid of Ambidexterity...

Well. I only quoted your posts, I don't think I will be able to explain those to you. Part of what I quoted was your quote of my earlier post, but you didn't seem to be uncertain of what I meant (since you replied in unqualified terms). But now it is not obvious? Yes, I was trying to make a...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] No good reason to get rid of Ambidexterity...

You misunderstand, I assume un-intended. I was referring to the gibberish about the TWF-incurred change in attack penalties for attacking with two weapons being different when applied to equal and different weapons. That should be obvious from both what you quoted and from what you didn't quote.

    Take Archer, Add Enlarge, Arrows=2d6

Looking at it in a different way That's an increase of 7 - 4.5 = 2.5 and he's attacking at -1 for being large. It's a little better than Power Attacking with a two-handed weapon, but not by much :) Adding the attack penalty for size, he's at -5 before other modifiers. His damage per arrow has...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] No good reason to get rid of Ambidexterity...

Ahem. Even reading this with a very open mind, it makes no sense in relation to the game. It may make sense in a narrow semantic way, but it is not relevant to the game so I don't think that line of reasoning is useful in a game-related discussion. (From what I understand, you're arguing that...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Ranger

Assuming the class (with spells) is balanced, you should only give something new when something old is lost, not too much earlier. So I wouldn't give anything until 4th level, and I certainly wouldn't increase the HD. I think some outdoorsy special/spell-like/supernatural abilities would be...

Why a prereq for Weapon Finesse?

On Andy Collins' boards, I think he said the BAB +1 prerequisite should have been removed but slipped it.

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] scorching ray?

    The spell seems to be about right power-wise. But I wonder why the progression is so weird; 1x 4d6 from 3rd, 2x 4d6 from 7th, 3x 4d6 from 11th. Wouldn't it be 'neater' with total damage dice equal to/no greater than caster level; 1x 3d6 from 3rd, 2x 3d6 from 6th, 3x 3d6 from 9th, 4x 3d6 from...

    new skill: fencing?

It sounds like you want to improve defense at the cost of offense when fencing? There are already a couple of ways to do that in the rules: - Fighting defensively (not too good, but everyone has the option) - Combat Expertise feat - Canny Defense (Duelist ability, I may have gotten the name...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] No good reason to get rid of Ambidexterity...

After reading your first post, that's what I thought you should do. I even got the 'feel' that you had thought of it already then? The first proposed change I think is relatively inconsequential. I agree that reducing penalties by 2/6 seems a little much, and whether they start out at -4/-8 or...

    Sorcerer's have poisoned my soul!!!

...Shadow Adept? Sounds good... I think all three 'primary' schools have meen expanded in 3.5 ;). But why not a sorcerous shadow adept? Somehow the whole shadow weave stuff just smacks of spontaneous casting/shaping to me.

Rogues don't get uncanny dodge until 4 in 3.5

If the rules change in a way affecting your character, you should be allowed to "re-make" previous choises so they better conform with the new rules. That's only fair, anything else is to screw the character.

Changes in MM creatures - why?

Excellent post, just a small comment: I thought halflings were good with slings and thrown weapons? Has this changed or why not a sling?

Converting Rangers from 3.0 to 3.5

What about the 4th level 3.0 ranger with 13 (minimum) HPs? By your formula he converts to 10 which is *below* the minimum of 11. It happens because you forget that each die should be at least 1. I stand by my formula above :)

Converting Rangers from 3.0 to 3.5

This is a good idea, but you cheat the character a little: - the '10' at 1st level should convert to '8' (not 7.5 as you implicitly get in your example) - the minimum at subsequent levels should still be 1 (not 0.75 as you implicitly get in your example) Solution: Use "HP above the minimum...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Monks and two weapons

I am almost sure that monks are not supposed to be able to make off-hand attacks when flurrying with monk weapons, even though there doesn't seem to be any text specifically barring it. The text does say that "There is no such thing as an off-hand attack for a monk striking unarmed" but...
