Spell Swap Questions

I think it is at levels when a spontaneous caster gets the first spell known of a at least 2nd level. So for sorcerers it is at levels 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and for bards it is at levels 4, 7, 10, 13, 16. ... Now I wonder if it is at every other level (every third) level instead?

    Changing the Wizard core class

Aren't the bonus feats "metamagic OR item creation" feats? Maybe I remember wrong :) but if they are, I don't see the problem.

    D&D 3E/3.5 Statistical Analysis of 3.5 Power-Attack: UNDERpowered?

Could it be something like allowing and attack with each weapon as a standard action? Maybe as a feat?

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Spellbook Value

... or maybe it should cost more than the scrolls since you can memorize spells from it wihtout using it up or scribe spells from it and then re-sell it? Unless of course it is a unique/homemade cantrip :)

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Size replaced by Handedness?

Are the rules for scaling weapon damage by size now in the PHB? It seems like they would be needed more frequently now. Also, has there been any changes to the scaling of damage dice with size? It used to go something like d6 -> d8 -> 2d6, is that still the pattern?

    HELP! Rogue/Ranger Tiefling too powerful?!

I wouldn't do it like that. He already has nearly max HPs and with a little luck he will roll low on the d10 to be subtracted and then high on the new roll when he regains the level. He could end up with more HP than max! It would be better to subtract the last number rolled (if he can remember...

Thank you, that's exactly what I wanted to hear :)

    Help on Non-Randomized Hit Points

It really depends on whether you think the HD given for the classes are appropriate. If you think they are fair, you should probably use the average roll (round up/down at odd/even levels) or your Method One which is similar. If you think high-HD classes should be favored, you can use for...

    Compiled 3.5 Revisions

Without knowing this for sure, I can hardly imagine the 3.5 designers making it impossible for a mounted knight to use lance and shield. They *may* have missed it, but I *really* doubt it. It could be done simply by stating that a lance can be used used one-handed when mounted. It may require...

    HELP! Rogue/Ranger Tiefling too powerful?!

As others have said, things may look very different if you simply make the character follow the rules. Just checking and correcting the feats (prerequisites and number) and making sure the flying rules are followed could work wonders. If he has Poor maneuverability, he can't hover and can only...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Tumble

Good ideas, Pax. I especially like the idea of giving a dodge bonus to AC against movement related AoOs. As it is, DC 15/25 makes you immune to AoOs and I think the skill should still be about as useful. I think the mechanic should require a skill check (not just ranks) so that skill bonuses...

[Math] Is the Great Scimitar balanced?

It doesn't look too bad. To be on the safe side, you might change the damage to 1d12, though. Edit: Where did thost other posts suddenly come from? Well, I guess I just agree with what's already been said :)

[3.5] Power Attack - can this possibly be right?

I think that thread/post was called something like Power Attack: The Designers' Rationale. I can't find it now, though. Link, anyone? I think that will be a common house rule, well in line with the designers' intention.

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Classes

Are you sure about the spell list? It looks really weird. Also, I think assassins will be spontaneous casters so is that spells per day or spells known?

    burning hands

Flame Arrow was brought up. With Burning Hands moved to Evocation, do anyone know what school Flame Arrow will belong to? ... And what about Color Spray and Prismatic Spray? (I think I will like a more strict division of the types of effects between the schools. Imo, almost all direct damage...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Difficult terrain may now prevent 5 foot steps.

Without checking, I think I have seen a rule or designer comment saying that you can always take a 5' step regardless of terrain. It would seem reasonable to me to always allow *some* movement?

    question about heighten spell

This question has been asked repeatedly here and elsewhere. I wonder if it will be spelled out in the revision?

    question about heighten spell

... except that heightening by 4 levels (from 3rd to 7th) requires a slot 4 levels higher. So the fireball-that-is-hasted-and-heightened-by-4-levels requires a 11th level slot. Edit: 3+4+4=11. Sheesh! (Thanks Bauglir)

D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Ranger but with d10. How to balance?

If you just remove the spells, the class will only become weaker from 4th but will be better from 1st. That means it will be much more attractive for dipping into for a few levels. I think it would be vetter to remove something from the first level(s) as well. How about removing the Good Reflex...

    point buy or standart array?

The simplest is to just use point-buy. That way players can play what they want. Some may want to play a character with an 18 and be willing to accept that the other stats are low, but that isn't really a problem, is it? After all, that's what they want. After having played a character with...
