    Ravenloft Valentines Day Cards

Neck romancer. That's hilarious. Morrus - Yeah, I was super busy yesterday. What happened? Did a bunch of people post Valentine's day stuff?

    Ravenloft Valentines Day Cards

For the past few months I've been running my friends (wife included) through Curse of Strahd. When we played last my wife surprised us with a set of Ravenloft themed Valentines day cards, one for each of us. They are way too awesome not to share. I hope you enjoy.

D&D 5E We Don't Need Magic Shops!... or How My Players Continually Confound Me.

This is a hilarious post for me because the last campaign I ran (for adults mind you) just about everybody wanted some sort of pet. The guy playing a monk wanted a dire wolf (he'd seen a lot of Game of Thrones recently) and the woman playing the kender thief (yes, I allowed Kender in my game and...

    D&D 5E 5e Dragonstar Soulmech

I'm starting the process of converting some of my Dragonstar books to 5th edition. For those who don't know, Dragonstar was a really fantastic campaign setting for D&D 3.X. It combined magic and heavy sci-fi and was set in a section of a galaxy ruled by Dragons. If you haven't ever checked out...

D&D 5E I'd really, really like to hear about some fights with Strahd . . !

I took the advice of the Power Score blog and decided the more Strahd the better. I had him "encounter" the PCs for a non battle right when they emerged from the Death House blooded and bruised. He charmed one PC, causing a frantic over reaction as other PCs rushed to hold back the charmed PC...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Variant Rules

While I won't be using the alignment variant or the idea of having players roll I am intrigued by the vitality rules. I'm planning to run a gritty game soon and this could help making things more grounded. The issue I have with this rule set is that they want you to recalculate HP on the fly...

    D&D 5E Dragon Player Characters

You know, AverageCitizen, that's an interesting question. It's one of those things where the supposed drawbacks that would result from someone playing a dragon in a mixed campaign wouldn't really end up being drawbacks. The big one is that dragons are so large that they can't enter most...

    D&D 5E Dragon Player Characters

I really liked this a lot. I loved the Council of Wyrrms box set. This could be the basis of a great conversion to 5e. I also liked what you did with the subclasses. I don't know if I could mix a dragon into a non-dragon group but as a way to do an all dragon group this would be awesome.

Not compatible with my Android tablet or phone. Not sure why but that bites.

New Chase Complication Tables in a Free PDF

I signed up with En5ider so I could read your article and I wasn't disappointed. I've always found chases to be exactly as you described, a serious chore that never works out the way I want it to but you have a lot of really good ideas in here that might help. Looking forward to testing them out.

D&D 5E Anyone Using the Optional Initiative from the DMG?

I'm going to check out that Popcorn Initiative thing. That sounds interesting. I tried Side Initiative but it made the combat really boring. The players would usually win (which happened often due to some bad rolls on my part) in which case they would just dominate the monsters completely. It...

D&D 5E Anyone Using the Optional Initiative from the DMG?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Fralex - That's exactly what I was hoping would happen for people who use this system. I also have very inattentive players (I'm just as guilty of that when I play instead of DM). I was hoping someone who used it would have gotten this result.

D&D 5E Anyone Using the Optional Initiative from the DMG?

I'm curious if anyone has tried out the optional initiative system from the DMG, the one that allows you to factor in the speed of an action. For me it sounds interesting. Not just because of the old school feel (although I do like that) but also because of the immersion it would seem to bring...

D&D 5E One Campaign To Rule Them All

I for one like this idea a lot. I think it would help if the players were familiar with all the settings. That way you wouldn't have to lay so much track so to speak. I couldn't help but think of the first dozen or so issues of the comic Exalibur from Marvel. The mutant team acquired a strange...

    D&D 5E The Harmless Suplex?

It's about that and what D&D represents. Sure if you get in a fist fight in real life grappling is a great tactic, but I never saw D&D as emulating reality. For me I would rather it emulate cinema and in most action movies you rarely see grappling. That's because it's sort of boring to watch...

D&D 5E Firearms, Explosives and You

So judging from the overall responses it seems Renaissance firearms are more or less balanced but modern firearms only work (as written in the DMG) if they are treated like very rare (or even legendary) magic items. Basically a machine gun is equal to a hammer of thunderbolts, powerful but if...

D&D 5E What Campaign Setting(s) Do You Want To See in 5E?

For me it would have to be (no order, I want it all) 1) Spelljammer 2) Neurospasta/Amethyst 3) Eberron 4) Dark Sun 5) Ravenlof 6) Dragonstar I know there's a few non-D&D settings on there but that's my list.

D&D 5E Firearms, Explosives and You

Ever since WoTC released the early sample of the DMG with firearms and explosives rules I've been curious how people would react, but strangely I haven't seen a lot of discussion. I'm just wondering, what does everyone think? Personally they seem to do more damage than I was expecting...
