That may be the case in your store, but when I was regularly playing in an encounters game (around when it started up for 5e) we had a LOT of week to week variation in who showed up, sometimes including people going to different stores from one week to the next. That, combined with availability...
How is it that we're ok with characters jumping from one time and place in the forgotten realms to another time and place in the forgotten realms (sometimes going back in time, if you're playing a Hoard of the Dragon Queen season expeditions adventure with a character who's just played in a...
I'm not interested in using them as a way to support AL. I think AL is great, don't get me wrong, and I play occasionally, but this interview also put the AL modules forth as (part of) an answer to the player base's desire for short 5e adventures. I'm just saying that as long as they're (mostly)...
Who said anything about wanting them for free? I want to pay for them. I have good money here I'm willing to spend on this stuff, they just won't let me do it, just like they won't let me pay for PDFs of the PHB/DMG/MM.
Also, just to be clear, I'm absolutely aware that there are a wide variety...
Thank you, that's super helpful. I agree, it would be great if they continued to release more short adventures like this, but I also think it'd be even better if they just stuck them on their website or something where people might actually find them.
In practice there are many ways to acquire copies of the shorter adventures, but none of them are both legal and universally accessible. Yes, I can download the pdfs from sketchy websites. Yes, I can ask my friend who DMs at a local store to give me a copy. Heck, I could even sign up to DM...
I still think it's hilarious that their answer for "short adventures" is the Adventurer's League, and "you can also download them", except you can't. They're restricted to people who are running them in stores or at cons. I want to buy these things, but you won't let me.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought that different-width columns was a bad thing. Agreed that the adventure itself was quite interesting though. All in all this and the other articles got me pledging, and I'm sure the minor issues with formatting and editing will improve over time.
Honestly, I get what they're looking for on the "compare these two classes" stuff. It's not possible to get a true comparison because there's so much variation between game situations, but the perception still matters. If a huge percentage of the community thinks that Druids (for example) are...
No argument, it's sub-optimal, but when I'm comparing it to the WotC search feature that most often neglects to tell me when events are actually scheduled to occur, or only returns stores that exclusively MTG events I'm willing to set the bar rather low on this front. In my area I can use the...
I haven't actually played any PFS yet, but I've been investigating it recently. So far, it seems like there are reasonable online tools for scheduling events and finding out what's going on (i.e. http://warhorn.net/), you can actually buy the scenarios (cheaply!) and use them for at-home play if...
I will say, the general level of screw up with D&D's organized play is a nontrivial reason to just play Pathfinder. I think D&D 5e is a better system, but Paizo seems to do a WAY better job at running PFS.
Looks like a good lineup. How close are you to being ready to launch? Are you just waiting till you've got 3 articles and an adventure per publication, or do you want to have a backlog of articles already finished?
FYI, there's a typo on the patreon page, you probably mean "fifth edition of the world's best known fantasy RPG", right now it's "best know" ;-)
Looking forward to being able to contribute, this seems like it has a lot of potential.
As I find the time I will file more feedback with you (I've already left some). I just want to set people's expectations correctly. This application is not at a state I'd be willing to call "beta".
Agreed. It is a huge stretch to call this a beta. It's an alpha, an early one. Worse than that, the whole thing feels like a "web application" that's trying really hard to pretend to be a native application. If I wanted an android or iOS app I'd be using a tablet. If it's on the web make it feel...
