    OotS #605 Is Up....

Green line. That's all! :D Cheers, LT.

Word of Mearls: Official Player races will not get Oversized Weapons. Forked Thread

Well, it is that way right now, no? The MM appendix is for NPCs, i.e. monsters. Cheers, LT.

    Snaking the HIVE

Well, this depends on whether you count Monty Python as "old style" or not. The show sometimes erupted in hilarious violence. :D As proof: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ltmMJntSfQI By the way, megamania, if you watch it until the end, you'll finally get the giant foot reference from waaaay...

    Snaking the HIVE

You remind me of something incredibly important - our perception on the screen is limited (I'm talking about the "see the beholder"-thread in general discussion), whereas real perception uses a multitude of impressions - sound, smell, vibrations of the floor... most people are just to fixated on...

The Pie... Err... Keep on the Shadowfell.

Thorid draws his screwdriver, readying it to retaliate if anybody dares to attack him or his friends. But nevertheless, he looks at Midnight, saying "Lass, perhaps he asked for a mug of ale - in an honourful way! In which case we must share - it's a dwarven tradition!" Then he quickly shouts...

    Snaking the HIVE

Oh, well, that's a reason. Ah, household chores - see it as a way to relax. As I am a basically single (girl friend broke up two or three weeks ago after 5 years), I have to do it all the time... and it's sort of fun - moments where you can just stop thinking and worrying too much...

Word of Mearls: Official Player races will not get Oversized Weapons. Forked Thread

Pretty happy with that. Good decision. Otherwise, oversized creatures would plainly overshadow all other races in a lot of classes, which can end up stupid. Cheers, LT.

Ditto to that! :D Cheers, LT.

Then... use the phone. I don't understand the modern obsession with e-mails anyway, phone calls have the advantage of being able to pick up so much more information from the voice alone. And, by the way, this week is study week, i.e. nothing to do this week - well, I *do* use the time to revise...

    Non-lethal damage

But they're not lethal. Nobody says that a knocked out person feels well or isn't hurt at all (in fact, most people knocked out in real life will suffer at least a concussion or something similar), opponents knocked out that way are hurt and wounded - enough to make them pass out, but not enough...

    Snaking the HIVE

Exactly. I have a dual-install with Linux. It's cool, it works like a charm, I love the concept, as it's Free as in Freedom (with a capital F)... but most of the time I boot up Windows because stuff runs on it. And running Visual C++ on Linux including the SDK is faaar too much trouble. Cheers, LT.

Change to Brutal Strike: Making it more Brutal

Erm... no. Let's use your example, a large executioner's axe, 2d6 and brutal 2, meaning it does at least 6 damage, i.e. 4 x 6 = 24 damage, with no strength modifier (the same as 3[W] and brutal +1) Now look at the averages: A brutal 2 axe has an average of 9 damage, i.e. 36 damage on average...

Genre Mash-ups you want to see

Something I'll probably DM around Christmas: The Victorian Heroes: Dr. Jekyll, the shy, but brilliant scientist is exposed to the Gamma Aethyrium, so he develops a powerful side personality, called Mr. Hulk. Together with Captain Van Helsing, the psychokinetic savant, they hunt down a league of...

Yeah, and in Germany as well - I guess in the entire of Europe. I love rewinding the clock... now we have the "proper" time again. Cheers, LT.

By the way, I'm fond of Savage Worlds and Necessary Evil to play superheroes! Hmmm... I think I could even stat up Peter from Heroes, at least in a limited way. Cheers, LT.

    Sins of a Solar Empire

I have it... and it's sort of great and sort of disappointing. It's a great game, fun to play, but the problem is: All three races are play pretty similarly, which reduces the replay value a bit. The lack of a campaign or something similar also hurts, as the only variety is changing the maps...

    Non-lethal damage

Who says that every hit was a solid hit, slicing the victim? Considering how healing surges work, I see HP more as a sort of "it's just a scratch" pool. For me, the first solid hit drawing blood is the hit that knocks the target to bloodied, and the second really connecting hit is the one...

Forked Thread: What is wrong with Return of the Jedi

Ewoks, seriously, Ewoks. Empire Strikes back was pretty "dark" compared to the first film and really set the tone. AT-ATs, Hoth, Carbonite Han, Luke and Darth Vader revelation. And then we get Ewoks, beating the Stormtroopers and AT-STs with trees and sticks and stones. And they sing. And...

Movie fight scenes - what level?

Unless, you as DM, decide otherwise, opponents die at 0 hp. Or get knocked out, if the PC wishes to do that. Personally, hp are some sort of plot power to me, so I mainly let my PCs decide what happens at 0 hp. This can range from cut in half to being disarmed and with the sword at their throat...
