    The Risen Goddess (Updated 3.10.08)

The Crux of the Matter From Chapter 102: “I’ve got it all figured,” Taran is whispering conspiratorially to Gorquen as the group marches through the streets of Sigil, back to the portal to the Abyss. “I took my headband off last night—don’t tell Thel.” “You have what figured?” Gorquen asks...

    The Risen Goddess (Updated 3.10.08)

The Multiverse's Most Incomplete Story Recap Dramatis Personae Taran is a thick-headed belligerent fighter/sorcerer/spell-sword who believes that the killing blow is any argument’s most relevant (and frankly, inevitable) counter-point. Thelbar is Taran’s older brother, a genius archmage with...

    The Risen Goddess (Updated 3.10.08)

The thread groans and sits up, looking about itself, remembering nothing of its passage through the pasoun.

    Le Gamers de Femme

Over the years, wherever I've been, rather than find gamers to be friends with, I've tended to teach my friends to game. I've never had any problem teaching women to game, or keeping those games going. In my experience, there is no discernible difference between the way that women and men...

    D&D 4E Your plans for 4e

OK, seriously? She's as or more excited about what she's heard than I am. She's only been playing D&D for a couple of years, and isn't supremely invested in any edition or ruleset. We're also looking at the new release as a level rules playing field that will set the entry-bar for her taking...

    D&D 4E Your plans for 4e

I'm so getting 4e. My wife will just play what I tell her to play. [bugs out eyes]

Gary Gygax has passed. RIP beloved father of RPG's. (merged)

Godspeed, Gary. Thank you for your Big Idea -- the game has meant a lot to me.

    D&D 4E Your plans for 4e

No, I never had any .alts to speak of, aside from the occasional gag post. I just still think that sign-off was funny, especially when he got crazy annoyed about everyone using it.

    D&D 4E Your plans for 4e

One of these days, we'll all live in one of those tax-shelter islands somewhere and play D&D for a living while monitoring the activity of our shady holding company.

    D&D 4E Your plans for 4e

OK, I'm in. Where do I buy the stuff? ------ What I'm hearing from DnDex sounds pretty good. I think that 4e comes off like a fun game that fixes some of the holes and ruts in 3e while (naturellement) establishing new ones. However, I've been playing inside the 3e-ruts for eight years now...

How Come There Is No "Wish" Spell?

I think you just said what I said. If you can't put boundaries on it, you can't "balance" it.

How Come There Is No "Wish" Spell?

I loved wish in 3.x D&D, and had at one time three characters capable of casting it in a single party. It was a great spell, and one I'll likely house-rule back in to the game. I think the removal of wish likely has to do with DMs thinking it's a pain in the butt, and developers not being able...

D&D 5E Who Will be The Next Monte...

Do you remember the first time we gamed together and you looked up at me and said, "Some day you'll buy a new edition of D&D?" I still get shivers.

    D&D 4E Paizo and 4e.

And I would suspect that they like it. The OGL wasn't created to shrink the hobby, it was created to deepen consumer/co-producer investment in the game, negate the expensive and potentially disatrous need to aggressively defend IP and trademarks *against* the natural flow of the hobby itself...
