    Paper Minions - WT?

Except when Joe Commoner fights the ogre, it isn't a minion - unless for some reason you have Joe Commoner fighting alongside PCs of sufficient power to throw ogres against them as minions. I would suggest just not doing that, or simply ruling that Joe Commoner can't inflict relevant damage to...

    Containing Strike? (Fighter Exploit?)

They had already reached the statutory limitation on class names starting with W.

    Impressions: Most dissapointing class?

I think there's a bit of a bigger problem than just the premades. While wizards have a similar attack bonus issue, they have the wand boost to make up for it a bit, and also powers that often hit more than one target, so you're probably going to hit *someone*. So far in my play attack bonus has...

    Rogues and Two Weapon Fighting

I want to say it dates to that TWF article in Dragon (reprinted in Best of Dragon Vol 4 I think - the silver one) but I don't have it at hand to confirm that.

    Rogues and Two Weapon Fighting

Beaten to it, but yeah, Entreri is definitely a monster. For that matter, so is Drizzt.

    Impressions: Most dissapointing class?

One issue that we're running across with clerics a bit in actual play is that they're kind of attack bonus challenged compared to most of the other classes, at least if they go for the ranged at-wills.

So why can ANYONE use rituals?

Forget players, this change is *completely awesome* from a DMing perspective. I love the fact that I can have non-spellcaster badguys do things like summon demons or raise the dead or whatever, it really opens up a huge amount of narrative space. Any minor nitpicking I might want to do about...

    4ed torrents -How'd it happen?

What possible reason would they have to keep it secret?

The Travesty! The Horror! Male Medusae.

Yeah, the equating of "old ugly and female" with "evil" is highly intellectual.

The Travesty! The Horror! Male Medusae.

Absolute agreement. There's a large segment of female-only monsters that could stand a bit of examination in this vein.

    Getting healing right

I think maybe what you are missing here is that an out-of-combat PC can just tick off healing surges without using any of the aforementioned powers. That is why the general 'no healing surges while unconscious' rule exists.

D&D 4E Would you buy 4E if it were not open/had no licenses for 3rd party companies?

Doesn't matter to me much if it is Open or not. I like the rules I've seen, and I want to play D&D. I'm leery of the quality of 3rd party products for the most part anyway, as I've had about a 50/50 success rate on them being any good at all, whereas with WotC I liked just about every book that...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

Change "greatsword" to "folding chair" and then think about the question you're really asking here. Hulk Hogan also clearly makes use of second wind and healing surges, as well as at-will and per-encounter abilities! EDIT: You know the more I think about this, the more astounding the parallels...

    Dungeons of Dread Preview 8

That "Skeletal Tomb Guardian from DDXP" posted in this thread is the same creature, that's just what's on the RPG side of the card (I have one.) Remember what you're looking at here are the stat cards for the miniatures game. There are still significant differences between the two games, the...

Is this what you went through with 3rd Edition?

I find the idea that 3E was much too combat focused and that it would kill roleplaying (paraphrased) to be particularly telling and relevant to the current discussions.

does rolling a 20 on a saving throw get rid of all effects on you?

It is in the minis game; the DM of at least one preview table at XP said that it didn't apply in the roleplaying game, but that has not been absolutely confirmed as true.

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

I missed the healing kit in the possessions. But that illustrates the point pretty well; in 3E you in theory have to figure out exactly what a particular NPC can get with this stat and this many ranks and these items, to get your desired result; in 4e you can just say 'he's got a +12' and ignore...

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

I frequent a few forums, and there are people in every thread I've seen on the topic saying "I'm canceling Pathfinder over this". It isn't anything like MOST of the people in the threads, but there's enough of them to make me think 'maybe there's a larger trend.' It also appears to the naked eye...

Effect of 4th Edition on DDO

Market share numbers are fairly irrelevant in the MMO world, and they're skewed by the runaway success of WoW. What matters in an MMO is whether or not you are making a profit and what your prospects are for continuing to make a profit, and DDO appears to at least be doing that since development...

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

Not only are his numbers out of whack, they fail to acknowledge what at least anecdotally appears to be a not insignificant number of customers that Paizo lost, like me.
