    D&D 4E 4e: Death of the Bildungsroman

Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal. :D I understand newbs die young but that can happen with the new rules too ;) or his career began when he trained to be a gladiator :) I like the new rules but I was hoping we could at least keep one baby ;)

    D&D 4E 4e: Death of the Bildungsroman

What may be level grind to you maybe an enjoyable RP experience to another, why not have the options of playing low level characters who can die Quite a few movies and novels do start characters as wet behind the ears, Conan per the movie was unable to defend his mother when he was a child and...

DDI, are you ready to game on the Net?

I voted No I can use Skype and other tools from the net for free to get the same result atm I really hope that they can get their gear together and make it work, as I would be a valuable tool but not for the price they are asking and paying for virtual mini's is a joke, I would pay if they...

    D&D 4E 4e: Death of the Bildungsroman

So what about playing in a low magic setting? one thing 3.5 enabled DM's and PC's to do was customise their game to their playing style, if you wanted to play the Bildungsroman style you could, , if you wanted to play uber high levels you could, if you didn't like the first couple of levels b/c...

    Paladins mark "fix" a plazebo?

because DivC requires you to be within :5: squares of your foe to activate it means that even if the Pally marks then runs away they are not going to be that far away as soon as the fighter hits it with their AoO the Pally mark goes away so no dmg this tactic doesn't take it to consideration...

Paladin is more of a striker?

I wasn't trying to say run away from the challenged foe, more along the lines of "I bet your not strong/bad enough to get past my friend here and hit me", remember hp in 4e also represent moral I hope you don't think that if a PC can't reach a foe in melee then they can't DivC them, I think...

Paladin is more of a striker?

The only problem i see is that DivC is 5 burst centered on Pal, which doesn't give it the range of your normal striker, but I'm sure they will give them a chance to increase it's range like they did with the dragonborns breath I see the Kender...i mean halfling Paladin using a reach weapon...

Intimidate, or "whoops I wasted my skill points"

DM's don't make PC immune to it, but it may not have the effect you were expecting It is effective when dealing with mooks and brigands who respond better to a heavy hand than a soothing word It is only a waste if you make it so, you run your character or NPC but there needs to be...

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

As someone who has enjoyed multiclassing and dualclassing for many years in all edition, i really dont mind the new rules, i dont think they are really true multi or dual classing as we know them and i can see how people would think it as cherry picking and false advertising As per older ed. MC...

    DDXP characters - unexpected tactics?

The rules say you can use a free action any time you can take another action normally AoO are actions which normally occur for bull rush. You couldn't use a free action during an opponents go unless they provided the AoO if this has been errated, per RAW the ogre would be moved back, but...

    DDXP characters - unexpected tactics?

So it takes less time to attack someone with an AoO than it does to fall prone  i was thinking you could use an free action instead of the attack action for an AoO the ogre would be force to move that extra square due to there being no-one to resist his momentum or the fact you...

    DDXP characters - unexpected tactics?

Both of these require attack rolls, you cant push someone unless you can hit them all i was pointing out was that to step out of the way of a charging ogre requires a readied action, the only other mechanic close to this is overrun which gives the defender a chance to dodge, representing the...

    DDXP characters - unexpected tactics?

If said rogue had a readied action to dodge out to the way, it would be a mute issue, he could dodge out of the way and watch as the ogre fall to its death. the bull rush provokes AoO and if the rogue was that nimble the orge would fail to hit in the first place, the whole strength check was as...

If gnomes had the eladrin's powers would that make them more appealing?

Seeing that 4E has taken so much from Dragonlance why not the gnomes Gnomes of Dragonlance nottomentiontheydonttakeabreathwhenspeaking :p they can cause just as much mayhem as kender and they get to blow things up

New FR compared with Dragonlance 5th age

The change from 2nd ed to 5th Age would be like changing from 3.5 to Magic the gathering, the difference was all in the rules the fluff was still dragonlance but the game was no longer DnD In every edition change there has to be some re-shuffeling of the deck, just so things make sense with the...

Do We Know (Officially) when Barbarians and Druids will be Released?

Being that the Druid was a sub-class of cleric in 2nd ed it shouldn't be that hard to retcon a druid, sure it may not be official but who cares you can update when it comes out. I do understand the feeling of being given the short end of the stick try playing Drangonlance with gnomes being...
