If you don't like 5e, then Pathfinder First Edition is the answer in the opposite direction. PF2E is some weird place in-between. PFRPG1E will remain the pinnacle of d20 gaming for years to come - in my opinion of course.

In addition to not caring for the mechanics of PF2, the art looks much more generic and unappealing to me. Pathfinder 1st for life.

Pathfinder has Ultimate Psionics from Dreamscarred Press. They expanded it to Mythic Psionics as well. Pretty awesome work. Well balanced and a lot of fun.

No house rules or warnings needed. Resting is part of the game. If they rest somewhere unsafe, roll for encounters. If they get ambushed a few times, the players will come up with a few ways to rest safely.

This would be worth getting for the reprinted material alone. A 5e version will make it easier to convert to other systems too.
