    boring combat

First of all, lemme just kinda explain a d&d session with my group. In two days we played 2 10 hour sessions, 20 hours total. We fought a total of about 4-6 battles max. Most exp we got was from questing. I rather enjoy this approach as it makes combat more desirable, also your getting a much...

Best way to kill a dragon?

ok people, thanks for the advice and all. but the only thing I am asking for is good combo's for spells. My character is in an enraged state oover the loss of a companion, and is blindly going into battle. His only purpose on this world is to fly up and slay the beast. No reasoning will...

Best way to kill a dragon?

I was under the impressions that red dragons only get arcanic spells, not divine. I know that blue dragons get divine however.

Best way to kill a dragon?

You won't get sneak attack. Dragons have blindsight, oh, well 300 ft radius or something. ..... What if I have improved invisibility and the dragon is fighting a summoned creature allowing me to effectively flank? Also what if I cast the Tentecle spell(4th lvl forgot full name) I believe...

Best way to kill a dragon?

Lemme give ya'll a lil' more info. We were fighting a blue dragon, (group of 7 15th lvl players)when It got closer to death, a red dragon( its female mate) flew down and attack us as well. We managed to kill the blue, and damaged the red. The red dragon then flew up the cavern and Into a hole...

Best way to kill a dragon?

Hey, in my campaign, at the start of the next session, I'm flying to kill a dragon. I am lvl 3 rogue, 5 mage, 7 arcane trickster. I am basically a 12th lvl caster. Can anyone give me some awesome spells that could be very effective? its an Ancient Red. I will most certainly have in effect...

    Targeting spells & concealment

Ok, answer me this..... If a mage is invisible, and you don't have see invisibility, can you target the mage with a spell? for example magic missle, or a ranged touch attack like melfs acid arrow? do u get any kind of miss chance?

    Targeting spells & concealment

What if a mage has blur cast on himself, and another mage is casting a ranged touch attack. Does the attacking mage then have a 20% chance to miss with the ranged touch attach? that seems more viable to me

    Sneak Attacks on Rays

Nope, no hard feelings, I do so love a heated discussion, especially with the conclusion being that I learn something new.

    Sneak Attacks on Rays

heres an example of why I am right, take for example the spell Enervation... Enervation You point your finger and utter the incantation, releasing a black bolt of crackling negative energy that suppresses the life force of any living creature it strikes. You...

    Sneak Attacks on Rays

No, he ins't, It specifically states in the Tome and Blood, (don't have one handy, not sure of page) that Any spell that uses touch attacks and does attriubute damage or level drain, effictevily does negative energy damage on the sneak attack. If you would like to refute this further, i'll be...

    Sneak Attacks on Rays

man, read the rules before you post. Ray of enfeeblement does in fact do sneeak attack dmg. The spell works normally, doing its str dmg, and the sneak attack causes negative energy dmg's. Just like the negative energy rays. so it would do str dmg + xd6 negative energy damage. And like the above...

    Sneak Attacks on Rays

ok think of it like this. A 19th lvl rogue, 1st lvl wizard... Obviously the rogue is going to be VERY versed in sneak attacks, and he will know the MOST critical and vital area's on the body in order to do an attack. now, the rogue has two options, he can sneak attack with some powerful...

    Sneak Attacks on Rays

I totally Agree with the above guy, ur being harsh on ur players, and you'll prolly lose em' soon if u snip their wings. Again I say, Gaining the sneak attack ALREADY has disadvantages of losing caster levels. a 3 lvl mage, 3 lvl rogue, can cast 2 lvl spells, and do 2d6 dmg on sneak attack...

    Sneak Attacks on Rays

Well, personally I don't think you should nerf the sneak attacks. In order for a mage to be able to get sneak attacks, they have to take levels of rogue, effictively reducing their caster level by 1 for every 1d6 of sneak attack dmg. This keeps in balance with sneak attacking ranged spells...
