    Please rate Sculpt Spell

All kinds of options... It's a brilliant feat for a sorcerer, since it lets him place area of effect spells exactly where he wants them. You don't need too many evocation spells if you know this feat: Burning hands: 1st level cone already, or it can now be a mini-fireball (2nd level spell, 5d4...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5e] A fix for free weapons from multiclassing?

Re: Re: Re: [3.5e] A fix for free weapons from multiclassing? Not to derail the thread... but the game is designed around available downtime. How else can your wizard with 4 item creation feats and profession(herbalist) expect to exercise his skills? No downtime means no time to make potions...

    Split rays & sneak attacks?

I thought that was the case, but got confused by the number of Arcane Trickster builds I've seen (here and elsewhere), where the creator insists that Split Ray is a "MUST HAVE FEAT!!" :)

Thanks I thought so, thanks for the confirmation.

    Split rays & sneak attacks?

Small bump ... in hopes that someone might know the answer. I'm inclined to think "no", but I did a search earlier and found suggestions in some previous threads that this suggested it would work.

    Split rays & sneak attacks?

I'm a little confused on how sneak attack damage can be applied to spell effects. I know that typically sneak attack damage applies to any spell that requires a "to hit" roll, and adds bonus damage of the base-spells type (so sneak attacking with a Ray of Frost would result in extra cold...

    Gotta make a new character

Bladesinger Look into the Tome & Blood bladesinger (download the web supplement from WOTC, contains an updated version of the PRC). You need to be elven or half-elven, focusssed on longsword exclusively, and can get into it as a ftr4/wiz2 (roughly). In return, you get fighter BAB, some...

How do you keep an animal companion alive?

I'm working towards Animal (Cat) Lord as a PRC... poor spellcasting ability, but it includes the ability to communicate with cats telepathically, share their senses, and so on. I envisioned two animal companions long-term: a "big" cat (tiger or lion) for it's combat ability, and a tabby as a...

How do you keep an animal companion alive?

I completely agree, and that's my concern. I'd like to pick animal companions for rp reasons, not based on how combat-useful they can be. Racoons, cats, squirrels could all make really interesting animal companions, but none of them could last through a single area-of-effect spell.

How do you keep an animal companion alive?

thanks Thanks for all of the suggestions! I think I'll save up for a scroll of Awaken, then encourage him to gain a few levels of rogue... improved evasion could be a handy thing :)

How do you keep an animal companion alive?

A little planning ahead... I'd like my current PC, a low-level druid, to have a pet cat as an animal companion. How do I keep the cat alive past the first fireball? Familiars have the advantage of nifty abilities (improved evasion) and relatively good hit points, while an animal-companion cat...

Would you like to see Psionics as core rules?

I'd love to see it. Yes psionics are too weak/powerful/unbalanced etc. depending on your perspective, but I think that's _because_ they've never used the core rules mechanic. Put them in a separate chapter in the core books if you must, but at least align them to match the rest of the rules.

Spell Analysis: Mace of Odo (MoF)

Check again - it's 3rd level, not 5th. My 10th level cleric regularly used it in combat as his favorite 10d6, no save, damage spell. If you just use it for the damage, it's probably too powerful for it's level. Add in the stunning effect and the spell absorption ability, and it's over the top.

The Adventures of the Knights of Spellforge Keep

Long-time lurker, first-time poster... great story hour Doc, definitely in my top 2 favs!! On the Dartan vs. Vek question... sorry Dursk, but my vote's with Vek. Dartan is effective, but Vek's got soooo many options available to him that Dartan would never know what hit him... Here's hoping we...

    Haste, should it age you?

Check out the updated FAQ - it now acts as Boots of Speed (10 rounds/day, command-activated) for the cost of a +2 enchantment. Finally, a hint of balance :)
