Hey its a new poll! Do you allow monks in your campaign?

Never played 1st Edition. And if they took out the monks for 2nd, they were correct, IMHO.

Hey its a new poll! Do you allow monks in your campaign?

Sorry, have to disagree. In the european Middle-ages, monks were studious people, not warriors (unlike, for example, the late middle-ages Knights Templar or Hospitalers). If they had divine magic at their disposition it was likely they would turn it to study and practical day-to-day affairs...

Hey its a new poll! Do you allow monks in your campaign?

Agreed. And did you notice they did not go out slamming people with their hands?

Hey its a new poll! Do you allow monks in your campaign?

Dragonlance campaign. No monks in it. And, thnking a little better, no way I would let my players play monks. I'll never DM an oriental campaign, and I feel they are out of place anywhere else.

Things you DID like about the Fellowship of the Ring.

Excellent choice of scenes Darrell! I have just one friend who didn't like Ian Holm as Bilbo.

Things you did NOT like about Fellowship of the Ring.

I understand cutting scenes is probably a murderous work, but can you tell me what did that scene add to the movie as a whole? I mean, other than seeing a ridiculous scene of a dwarf hanging by his beard...

Things you did NOT like about Fellowship of the Ring.

Only if the director was lousy. The character development scenes could be placed in parts of the movie which were already heavy with it, or which could have benefitted from it (like the Lothlórien scenes).

Things you did NOT like about Fellowship of the Ring.

Oh, far from it my friend. I believe you are the one ignoring the pacing aspect. Tell me, what exactly does stopping for two minutes with a Balrog in your tail add to the pacing of the scenes? Don't you think they could have just raced through the stairs while being hailed by orc arrows? The...

Things you DID like about the Fellowship of the Ring.

As the starter of the "did NOT" thread, I feel compelled to post here. Since I obviously cannot point out everything I liked (it's so much more than what I disliked), I'll raise what are, in my opinion, the highlights. 1 - I'll start with what is, in my mind, the best scene of the movie. The...

Things you did NOT like about Fellowship of the Ring.

Thanks for all your answers, the topic raised many things I had forgotten and should have mentioned in the opening post, and the discussion remained, more or less, within the bounds of reason. Let me say it again. I liked the movie a great deal. I've watched it 3 times already, and intend to...

Things you did NOT like about Fellowship of the Ring.

Let me start by saying that I understand the difficulties of transposing a book to the big screen. That said, let me also say that I liked the movie overall but, as you shall see, as a generic fantasy movie, not as a representation of the book upon which it was based. Now, on to the gripes...

    FOTR trailers: a retrospective

I was actually disappointed that some of the scenes in the trailers were cut from the movie itself. The part of the entire Fellowship receiving presents from the elves of Lothlórien was particularly missed by me. Indeed, let me start a new thread....

Combat Reports on the Best 3rd Lvl Spells

Also, consider having the Empower Spell Feat, and try empowering a Magic Missile (thus making it "cost" a Lvl 3 slot). Works like a charm. And no save BTW...

Non-English speakers: what language do you game in?

I DM and play in Portuguese, my native language. But I do make a point of not translating names, since they tend to become very poor approximations of the originals. Can you imagine Rivendell translated? The Lord of the Rings edition made in Portugal uses "Valfenda"...pretty horrible in my...

    Best d20 Setting?

I voted for "something else entirely". It's actually a vote for my conversion of the Dragonlance world... :D
