Help Me Understand the GURPS Design Perspective

Damn, OP, you can really pick'em... GURPS Supers is the worst possible GURPS iteration. It does powers very poorly, and I've never seen it play well at the table. The system is exceptional at handling realistic games. GURPS WW2 is amazingly well done and runs like a dream in actual play. GURPS...

What's Your Favorite System for Star Wars

WEG in any of its incarnations. It's the best system for a true Star Wars feel. SWD20, for example, is a good system, it just never actually feels like Star Wars. It slows down for combat and that is antithetical to SW. I haven't played FFG yet, but I don't think it can do anything better than...

Check Out The One Ring 2E’s Cover Art!

Sure, if you have zero respect for the established rules laid down by the creator of the world, you can do all sorts of idiotic things. Like that new Tolkien movie apparently (I haven't seen it) spending most of its run time establishing LotR as an allegory for World War I and/or whatever pet...

Check Out The One Ring 2E’s Cover Art!

You haven't read Appendix A to the Lord of the Rings, have you? There are dwarven women, but they are rare and stay underground. I agree there shouldn't be a dwarven woman adventurer on the cover, since that would constitute a breach of canon to rival the ridiculous elven-dwarven romance in...

D&D 5E New survey from WotC about boxed sets

Regarding 4E. I'm gonna quote Dwarven Tavern here and say: "We....we don't talk about that..."

D&D 5E New survey from WotC about boxed sets

Number 2 is one of the main reasons I like the boxed set format. My 2nd edition boxed sets are always full to the brim with extra sourcebooks, character sheets for the current campaign, extra maps, etc. I actually overdid it with the Birthright main box....who'da thunk putting in 5 extra books...

D&D 5E New survey from WotC about boxed sets

All good stuff. Thanks for the heads up. I stopped following FR when 4E came out, and I haven't bought any of the faux-mini-gazetteers bundled in with useless adventures, so I'm totally out of the loop on the current state of FR.

D&D 5E New survey from WotC about boxed sets

I'm perfectly aware Zakhara is in FR. I do have all the 2E boxed sets and other material for the setting after all. FR was ok, but all the peripheral settings (Al-Qadim, Maztica and Kara-Tur and The Horde) were more interesting (and that's saying something, considering I hate almost all things...

D&D 5E New survey from WotC about boxed sets

You have neither a heart nor a soul. P.S.: Regarding the Campaign Setting, I'm praying it's not FR/Eberron/Ewwvnica. Birthright would melt my heart and essentially force me to buy two copies. Planescape would be next best, then Greyhawk, Dragonlance, Dark Sun, Mystara/Hollow World, Al-Qadim...

    Is RPGing a *literary* endeavour?

Ah, the strong aroma of "Pretentious Storygamer".... You may wanna ease up on the cologne just a tad.

    Is RPGing a *literary* endeavour?

I see people walked right by the correct answer to the title's question and didn't notice it. It's "No."

    How many dragons?

Dragons are mostly rare in my campaigns, except when I run Dragonlance. And they were everywhere when I ran Council of Wyrms once upon a time...

Age of Sigmar's Cover Art Unveiled

This stuff looks more like the Dungeons, the Dragoning spoof than an actual RPG. They can forcefully deliver this Fantasy Space Marine crap whence it came.

I see you were playing games made by "They Sue Regularly".

What Systems Have You Had Long Term Campaigns With?

I am DMing 99% of the time, so bear that in mind. My longest campaigns were with AD&D2E (multiple settings), Call of Cthulhu, WEG Star Wars and Conan D20. I also had pretty decent length campaigns using Earthdawn, WFRPG and D&D3E/3.5 (Forgotten Realms).
