Proposal -- YAFDHR (Yet Another Falling Damage House Rule)

Jeff/kerrick: Regarding rate of fall, granted but I was referring to practical falling scenarios, and as Ashtagon pointed out, the difference is negligible at the distance we are discussing. I barely remember the science behind all this, just the main lessons (i.e. things basically fall at 1g)...

Proposal -- YAFDHR (Yet Another Falling Damage House Rule)

I'm pretty sure that science has shown that they fall at the same rates.:) However, due to a lower mass, the smaller creature hits with less weight[I] and therefore less [I]force. And, given the structural strength to weight ratio of a small humanoid, the small creature would take less damage...

    Reshuffling Skills ...

Kaisoku....wow dude(?)....why don't you pay attention to what Jeff is saying about the functioning of the Speak Language skill... Read the PH/SRD description!

Proposal -- YAFDHR (Yet Another Falling Damage House Rule)

The thing that most of you have not mentioned (I don't know if it is lost on most of you or not) is that the Con damage ALSO does hit point damage by lowering the subject's Con modifier. This is why I like Con damage for massive trauma of all kinds, and why I am considering it as an alternative...

    Silver Standard?

I use a custom silver conversion for my campaigns... Everything in the PH that is simple and common...clothes, basic equipment etc. is converted from gp to sp Armor is twice its gp cost in sp, simple weapons are about 5 times ,and complex weapons such as swords are 10 times their gp cost in sp...

Does sniping while hidden deal sneak attack damage?

You know you're on the internet too much when you get confused as to which alter ego you are currently portraying on which boards!!!! the previous post was made under a decidedly darker version of myself...that posts on Umbrasa the Gravelands...called theBlackLord... ...my apologies for the...

Does sniping while hidden deal sneak attack damage?

AMEN and Halleluah!!! ....er....I mean....ahem.... Praise be to the Black Lord in all his Tyrannical Glory!!!! ....yeah...that's it!

Does sniping while hidden deal sneak attack damage?

You know what I'm going to do :] Not only am I going to rule henceforth that attacking while hidden denies your target his Dex bonus...I am also going to grant ANYONE who attacks such a target Sudden Strike damage (Complete Adventurer under Ninja)...say +1d6 for every four full places of...

Does sniping while hidden deal sneak attack damage?

Look, the real breakdown here is the simplicity of the basic combat system... Everyone is flat-footed until they act in the surprise or first round of combat. Once 'engaged' and aware, however, the stupid 360 degree constant observation kicks in...the rules seemingly do not allow for...

Does sniping while hidden deal sneak attack damage?

Irdeggman, your last post actually supports Mistwell's (and my) position...the rules you cite imply the inherent superiority of remaining in concealment (sniping) as opposed to moving from concealment (though there are rules for this with penalties in CAv)...and they make no mention of the...

Spell Save DC Based on Character Level

Well yeah...it should be +1 every 4 caster levels...that's what I was going to do in a new campaign of mine...but now I'm thinking I like the 1/2 caster level... ...incidentally, I would allow caster level boosters to work with it (like practiced spellcaster)...

Spell Save DC Based on Character Level

Personally, I figure as long as it ISN'T unbalanced...then it does A LOT for the flavor of the spellcaster, as it allows them to "waste" time casting lower level spells...

Knowledge skills as level checks, for everybody!

Seems like a neat idea...I agree that people should have some intrinsic knowledge without being scholars...I offer my suggestions to finish it off: I think Bards should have History...they are into lore and legend You could give Fighters Nobility/Royalty...recognizing heraldry of merc units as...

    LA+0 Drow

Irdeggman: The paragon classes were originally created and introduced by Monte Cook in his excellent work Arcana Unearthed. As presented in those rules, their function was to allow ALL PC races to start at LA +0, but a few "powerful" races could reach their potential by completing the paragon...

A completely new system - Is there any interest?

I also am intrigued by many of your ideas...I personally have no problem with changing "the Rules", but alas, my group is not so brave...they like "plug and play" alterations... ...however I am launching a new campaign and am trying to address many of the things you point out...from a little...

The mechanics to force vampires to drink blood.

I definitely like and agree with the basic idea...but I think you've given them too voracious an appetite. Perhaps if they hit there "blood HD" quota every week, otherwise any community that has an infestation looks more like Dusk til Dawn than Interview With A Vampire. And I don't particularly...

    Effort or Activity Levels

I think that sounds pretty good...but where are you going with this? Are you thinking of assigning these levels to all activities and setting up a new "fatigue system"? That would be cool, but I'm not sure how to do it.

    Search, Spot, Listen

I have been on the fence about this sort of thing for quite awhile. However, I am about to launch a HEAVILY house ruled campaign, and have a couple of ideas: First, I was going to have the "+2 to 2 skills" feats grant those skills as class skills for all of your classes...but while reading this...

    Duskblade and sense motive?

Because Rogues get it... It is a valuable interpersonal skill, and Rogues excel in all interpersonal skills...the inclusion in the Duskblade is almost certainly based on this. ....yeah...I was thinking about this today, and I realized that when I wrote this...I was confusing the...

    XP Idea

Uh...yeah...sorry for all the posts, but I just realized...its simple...it would be 20 encounters per level... ....that's a good start on slowing down advancement without peaving the players.... ...but maybe 150 multiplier would fit the bill, eh?
