Heroes Season 1(#12)---1/22/07-'GODSEND' Mid-Season Cliffhanger Continued

I was quite pleased with the episode. Specifically, it further corrected one of the drawbacks many people have complained about: tying the storylines together. Besides mere random connections and one or two heroes on screen at the same time, this time we had Nathan, Isaac, and Hiro all working...

    Duskblades & greatswords

Granted. Good point. :D Merry Christmas. Or Chanukah. Or Kwanzaa. Or belated Ramadan.

    Duskblades & greatswords

I really don't see this as a problem because, again, this is fuzzy rules territory where logic (and flavor) should dictate. I personally don't know how someone is supposed to say "bippity boppity boo," make intricate gestures with his hand, and retrieve and throw some bat guano in the air all...

    Duskblades & greatswords

I have to agree with RangerWickett here. I don't see any problem with a duskblade quick-casting a spell while holding a 2H weapon. I've always had a tough time reconciling components and quickened (swift) casting anyways. If a spell normally requires a couple seconds of speech, hand-waving...

ToB:Bo9S - Shield Counter is TWF?

If you attack with only one weapon, yes, you can have another weapon in the other hand for all the good it does you.

    Heroes Season 1(#10)---11/27/06-'Six Months Ago'

This post is spoiler-rich and mostly rantish. Move on if that's not your thing... I thought the episode was rather poor, myself. It struggled with the problem it's had from nearly the beginning: too many characters and not enough time to tell each of their stories. It acted like an origins...

Second Son of a Second Son: The Stat Draft

The interesting thing about this to me is how this method encourages people to have a good idea of their character concepts before playing. You gave the example of an ability score as a requirement for a feat. Another example would be choosing STR first corrals you into a warrior type, so some...

    Your Planescape experience

I've run both pre- and post-Faction War campaigns in both 2nd & 3rd edition. For me, it comes down to how much your players want to use the factions. I've found that with players clueless about Planescape, it's best to run post-Faction War as there is a lot of new information for them to get...

What do I do now? - A new but related situation

I didn't follow the original thread to completion, so I'm not sure of the extent to which the other players are aware of the Vargus/Cornealius dichotomy. If they are fully aware at this point, I would suggest that you invite them to a quick pre- or post-game discussion about the matter...

What have you stolen lately for your game?

This one falls into the 'not so recent' catagory. Some time back I was introducing my players and their characters to Sigil for the first time, and I scraped and stole everything I could to really describe the alien and deadly nature of the city. One of the things I stole was from 'Samurai...

Half-Price Books . . . your source for liquidated books!

Apparently this is catching on. I just came back from HPB and they were nearly sold out of the good stuff. They maybe had one copy of each remaining (save the FR stuff), and plenty of spare room on the shelves. I of course contributed to making space for them. :) Thanks for the heads up...

    Monk Kensai?

You may want to sack the idea of the Kensai, as a Necklace of Natural Weapons from Savage Species gives you the Signature Weapon ability of the Kensai without burning class levels. Plus, Kensai does not progress Monk AC, Speed, or the biggie: unarmed damage. If however you want to continue...

    Tell me what to buy!

Thanks all for your helpful replies. I ended up going with the Player's Handbook II (since nearly everyone recommended it), the Complete Adventurer, and Dynasties and Demagogues. I ended up paying a little over $3 thanks to taxes. That's pretty good, methinks.

    Tell me what to buy!

No, I actually own plenty of books, but I haven't purchased many since 3.5 came out. I recently purchased the Spell Compendium and it's great. Thanks everyone for your great suggestions. If you have any more, keep 'em comin'.

    Tell me what to buy!

My lovely mother just gave me a $75 gift certificate to Amazon for my birthday. This presents me with a problem I'm sure most everyone would like to have: what to buy? Of course I could get literature or music or what-have-you, but I'd much rather get D&D/d20 books. What 3.5 compatible WotC...

    Map 'o' the Corrlands

Here's the map(s) of my homebrew, the Corrlands. One is without border outlines and names, the other with. This was originally done by drawing by hand the land outline and scanning it in. Most of the rest was manipulation in Photoshop. I did manage to steal the mountains from one source or...

    High Level Literary Sources

I'm re-reading Roger Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber and the main character and his siblings reek of high-level D&Dness. They raise powerful armies, can stand toe-to-toe with a multitude of foes, duel for hours on end, alter reality on a whim, and heal themselves from monstrous injuries. It is...

    Ultimate Gaming Table, Update

Upon showing your table to the guy who's house we play at, he responded, "I don't need a dining room table." He was serious.
