    Did you notice?

Um...could we get back on track I have just read through a page and a half of nothingness. I was hoping for more discussion of things from the movie. Things people saw or noticed, I don't want to sift through pages of immature posturing. Please unless you have something nice, or on topic to...

What do you most enjoy in fantasy lit?

Characters are hands down the most important thing for me. I have continued to read books that had horrible or predictable plots, a lack luster world, and lame action just because I was wrapped up in the characters. When I am involved in the characters I tend to be a little more forgiving of...

    Sexiest Male from LOTR

I have a thing for men with blue eyes, so I was in Heaven :). If a guy has long, well cared for, hair to go with those blue eyes even better :) It's hard to choose a sexiest of them, but I have to vote Legolas, not only is he physically sexy, but the character and how he carries himself is as...

    Hot guys at Gencon?

Ohh how my dice have failed me....

I have a similar, yet totally different, problem with my dice. When I roll them (as a player) they roll fair to poorly for me, but as soom as the DM touches them he (in all 3 instances all 3 dm's were guys) rolls crit after crit, one DM even killed half the party due to my "lucky" dice, but I...

[Semi-OT] 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' two-disc DVD set

The only thing you have to worry about there is DVD's that have a copyguard to prevent you from making a copy of the disc. Not all discs have a copyguard, but many of them do. {We get around that by using our old, still working, BetaMax machine :D which doesn't read the copyguard.}...

    location poll

We play in teh conference room at one of the guys' work. So we sit around a huge table in office chairs. Comfy enough to relax in and have everything on the table (including a nice big battle mat) and the chairs aren't so comfy that you're falling asleep (although it does happen). Before I...

[OT] Movies based on book HELP

I already posted in the non RPG sci-fi and fantasy board, but I need help before Friday evening and I don't know if there's enough traffic there. I apologize in advance if I have acted inappropriately. Onto my request: I need suggestions for movies based on books. I am joining a book club...

    Movies based on books...HELP

I need suggestions for movies based on books. I am joining a book club that's a little different. I am going for my first meeting this week <Interview with the vampire> and I got an e-mail that they will be deciding what to do for the next year at the meeting this week. I need suggestions...

    Best DVDs (features...)

I agree that the Kevin Smith DVD's are great. I Own Dogma and have seen the rest and they are jam packed with extras goodness. Deleted scenes, gag reels, comentary tracks, and so much more. I also love my Mummy and Holy Grail DVD'a there;s a lot of extras in them from making of stuff to good...

    Gamers in Minneapolis area

I wouldn't mind adding another game to my plate. I am with a (very) full gaming group that meets every Friday, so nights other than that I am open <more or less>. I definately prefer a low-power game (no half dragon half devil devil slayers...yes this was a REAL character a guy put together...

Playing a Character Smarter than you

My group will be going back to characters we started (in a Hero:fantasy game). I have bought my character's stats up and now have a character (basically an archer and a scout) with a 23 intelligence (10 is "average" so the scale is similar to D&D). My question becomes how do you roleplay a...

Now Recruiting for WWDA: Weak Willed DMs Anonymous!

I'm pretty sure I qualify. I had only been playing a few months when I thought I could take the reins of the game. We got to about 3rd level before I couldn't take it anymore. I have many many files in teh pushover DM department, but these are the ones that were laid out in the questions: 1)...

    Looking for ladies magical items!

Just make sure that you're giving the men in the group non-combat items as well. I know I'd be pretty upset if I got a brush that did my hair, or a mirror that changes my appearance and one of the guys got a good weapon or armor that is more useful in game especially if we're both playing...

    Class less DND system

Our Dm put together rules for a classless system for d20. He modified 3eD&D rules along with Alternity and a smidge of Hero thrown in. <the systems we play>. It works great. Feats are mostly taken care of in perks and flaws and everything else is skills. You get skill points rather than...

[OT] Do you believe in ghosts?

yes, and yes. I didn't want to believe for a long time, but I have had too many experiences to deny it. I see my deceased cat all the time. He lived here with me for 15 years before I had to have him put down 3 years ago. Ever since then I can feel him around, and feel him lying on my feet...

exp for out of game acts

We have some players who are always late, and sometimes those of us who arrive on time get some extra XP's thrown to us. Sometimes it's every 5 minutes until the latecomers arrive. It encourages promptness (sometimes). But I can't remember anything out of game getting XP's, just in game.

One Thousand Ways to Freak Out Your Players

I interrupt this thread for this unimportant comment: Cross: Looks like someone either read or ran through the first level of Castle Greyhawk ;) I have played (and DM'd) some levels, weird stuff in there, major freak out player stuff in there ;) definately an expect the unexpected adventure...

    LotR DVD details

I hate to say this, but this already IS a staple of the movie industry. They already like to put out a "normal" edition and then later a "special" edition with all kinds of extra goodies on it. I own several copies of several DVD's just because of this phenomenon. I LOVE the commentaries and...

    [OT] Convention Party advice

The party is open to everyone attending the convention. It's a (pretty) big sci-fi fantasy convention for all mediums (gaming, movies, books, comics, art, etc). Thanks for trying though :) LAters, Lady Starhawk
