The Darkness spell provides concealment and a 20% miss chance for those within the radius. The Blur spell provides concealment and a 20% miss chance. Why is it that you can hide while in a Darkness spell but not while under the effect of a Blur spell, if both provide the same concealment bonus?

Elder-Basilisk, interesting points about the "no brainerness" of the Spell Focus feat. I disagree with your analysis, but that's cool. My main point still stands, however: since opinion seems to be evenly split about the power Spell Focus, it's probably a bit more of a balanced feat now.

This usually gets brought up in feat debates so I'll be the one this time. :) The fact that opinion is so divided on the matter probably means the feat is a bit more balanced now. Spell Focus went from a "no brainer" to a "somtimes brainer".

Maybe Dungeon should move towards a web based subscription service that produces PDF's. That'll eliminate printing and mailing costs. You could buy an entire issue, or could even pay per adventure. Say, $3 or $5 depending on the size of the adventure. Produce two PDF's, one that's monitor...

How does the Hide skill work with Blur? If I'm a rogue/sorcerer and I cast Blur, does this allow me to hide while being observed?

Does a rogue/wizard firing two Scorching Rays get to add his sneak attack damage for EACH ray? What if he fires the rays on different targets? Or does this fall into the category of one sneak attack per barrage (like shuriken)?

I'm interested in hearing the difference between randomness and unpredictability. :) Sometimes the rogue has to fight undead or constructs, so his sneak attack doesn't work. Sometimes the melee based fighter has to whip out her longbow and perform ranged attacks, doing much less damage than...

I like SR. It adds an element of fear and randomness to combat. But it's incumbent upon the DM to use high SR creatures wisely, to make sure that he tailors his encounters according to the PC's level. As far as some of the house rules, I like some of the magic focus/wondrous items presented...

I don't mean to dredge up old issues, but I thought that if all you did was clean your mouth out, you did not suffer the suffocation portion of the spell effects. It wasn't until you tried to do something else that you suffered suffocation. :confused:

I love mini's. I've been collecting them for a long time. I like painting them too. Drkfathr1, you beat me to the punch. I feel the exact same way you do. If I want 10 orcs I want to buy 10 orcs.

I would suggest that your DM spend a good amount of time reading and re-reading the rules. And let him know that he (she?) can't assume everything works the same way as it did in 1e and 2e. In fact, I'd say pretend the previous versions never existed and treat 3e like a brand new game.

We'll be playing 3.5e by the rules, with one exception: no 5-10-5 movement on diagonals. I hate that FAQ ruling. Does anyone know if it made it into 3.5e?
