Whoa... New Tripped Out WoTC Home Page...

It probably happens because some browsers have cached the old stye sheet, which is what tells your browser how to lay out the page. New page content + old style sheet results in a mess. Hitting reload/refresh tells your browser to load the new style sheet.

Let's Talk About WotC DM Supplements.

My only complaint about the supplement books I have (plane above, plane below, etc.) is the almost complete lack of maps. I don't mean encounter maps. If a city or a geographic location is described, I want a map of it, dammit. Seeing these fictional places mapped out is a big part of what...

    Gaming in the basement

Wow, I had no idea that basements were such a highly regional phenomena. Around here, the lack of a basement is fairly rare, and considered a liability when selling or buying a house.

Why I Dislike the term Railroading

Right, and because neither of these situations exist with real trains, the analogy to RPGs doesn't make much sense, because it's not really analogous.

Why I Dislike the term Railroading

You can't control a train, but it's a moot point because you wouldn't get on the train if you didn't want to go where it was going. Maybe that's the problem with the analogy.

    Easily print scaled maps?

The way I do it is to first crop the edges of the map so that it only contains whole squares. Then just count the squares across and down, and this is the print size you need, in inches.

New clause in iPhone 4.0 makes some iPhone RPG apps illegal?

Isn't iplay4e just a web application? If so, it isn't effected by this at all.

    Why must numbers go up?

Because for players, leveling up is fun.

    DDI and IPAD

When it comes to use in-game, the Compendium is already far more useful than PDFs would be.

Pathfinder 1E Is PAIZO becoming the next Wizards?

Sure, but without 4e/end of the d20 license/botched GSL, also no Pathfinder, or reason for 3rd parties to switch to it.

Pathfinder 1E Is PAIZO becoming the next Wizards?

I'd say WotC had just as much of a hand in that shift as Paizo did.

Does Dungeons and Dragons need supported settings?

Because (by WotC standards) not enough people would buy it.

Dislike 4E? You can write off 5E

This was considered a denial of 4e? In retrospect, it sounds like a pretty big hint that 4e was coming in 2008.

    Alternatives to Dungeon Tiles?

I try lots of new stuff, but nothing really beats the good old wet-erase battlemat for durability and versatility.

Does Dungeons and Dragons need supported settings?

It seems to me that WotC does support a setting, quite extensively, in almost every D&D product they publish. It just doesn't have an official name or map.

Does Dungeons and Dragons need supported settings?

But this is exactly what makes setting supplements less worthwhile for WotC to publish- too many people who don't have a use for them, and decide not to buy.

    DDXP 2010 News and Updates

It sounds like the cards just replace the long charts that older versions of Gamma World used for random mutations. I'm okay with that.

    Yay Failing Book Stores?

Price isn't my main concern, either, but I still make most of my non-food purchases online. The only thing brick and mortar stores can offer me is instant gratification- and they usually fail by not having what I want in stock. The internet is also great for independent specialty retailers. It...
