High level d20 adventures out there?

Dungeon recently published a 17th level adventure specifically set in the Forgotten Realms, if I remember correctly.

    AP3 Savage Tide - skeptical

This is why, when using something like an adventure path, I tend to design the campaign world around the adventure path, instead of the other way around. The way I see it, if I have to do a bunch of extensive "adapting," I've defeated the purpose of using a pre-written campaign in the first place.

Why are D&D discussions so angry?

It's not always that way, but I have seen this sort of sentiment expressed on these boards. Heck, I remember a while back there was an entire thread questioning why people who aren't fans of 3.x would be posting on enworld at all.

Do You Often Get Beyond Mid-Level Play When RPGing?

In the past, yes. But now I've gotten to the point where I'd be happier if campaigns ended at 15 instead of 20.

How would you like to see a PDF version of Dragon/Dungeon

I'd be happy with just increased online support for Dungeon. For example, allowing subscribers to download documents with all the artwork and stat blocks. Also cool would be providing any maps with 5 foot squares at a high enough resolution to be printed as battle maps.

Fast advancement in Age of Worms and other campaigns

I find advancement to be implausibly fast from an in-game perspective, but it's fun, so I don't worry about it much. D&D doesn't functions well as simulation (of anything), so I try not to expect it too.

PDFs - where do you buy yours?

RPGNow, unless what I want to buy is only available at DriveThruRPG.

    Girlfriend in Gamer's Clothing

Come on now, this is horribly sexist. Sure there are women (and men) like this, but it's about the individuals, not the gender. And anyway, why are you putting all the blame on the female, even though the male is a willing participant in their dysfunctional relationship? He's probably not the...

My players are scared of ruining the balance

Yeah, I've run into it. I've discovered over and over again that my players are perfectly happy with standard D&D as written, and don't want me pushing variant or alternate systems on them. Someday, I might learn my lesson.

    Hordes of the Abyss.

This is the crux of the issue, isn't it? Continuity and plausibility are red herrings, because this can easily be compensated for in each DM's campaign. The real issue is that epic fans were expecting epic support in HotA, but instead feel like the demon lords have been stolen away from them.

Demon Lords and Princes: How *Bad* Should They Be?

It is too an excuse, and based on the idea of providing reasonable challenges for 20th level characters, it's a perfectly reasonable one. Unless you're running an orc and pie scenario, the demon lord is nearly guaranteed to have an entourage. Its CR needs to take this into account.

Demon Lords and Princes: How *Bad* Should They Be?

But seeing as how balors go up to 60HD, and there's an infinite number of them, it doesn't seem like a demon lord of any CR would be safe... Maybe the real problem here is with the CR of balors, not the CR of demon lords.

Why the assumption that epic levels are purely optional?

And CR 20 is also (for the most part) where the Monster Manual ends.
  16. H

Why the assumption that epic levels are purely optional?

One big indication that "core" D&D doesn't support epic play is that demon princes are officially stated with CRs in the low twenties. :p

    Guns in D&D?

One problem I have with introducing "tech-level-appropriate" guns into D&D is that, unlike in the real world, D&D guns have to compete with magic. Flint-lock pistols and the like would have so little impact on a D&D style high magic setting that there's no reason to bother introducing them. In...

    Yet Another Problem Player Thread

I actually think you're being more of a problem DM than he is being a problem player. Unless there are in-game issues (and you didn't mention any) just leave the guy alone and get on with the game! Showing up for and participating in game sessions should be enough to ask. If you have some...

Do You Use Your RPG Rules as Written?

The poll doesn't ask if you use ALL the rules as written. The way it's set up, both 'yes' and 'no' would be valid answers for most people. So the poll results don't mean much.
