HBO's Game of Thrones: Debut likely in March/April 2011

I think a bigger problem is that if they stick with the "one season per book" idea and don't change the timeline, the child actors will age out of their roles too quickly.

Twilight, the Uncertain Knight, and the Distressed Damsel

In my case, I'm assuming that every thing said about the dysfunctional nature of the relationships in Twilight is true (I have no interest in reading it myself.) I just don't think that people -including young girls- are so fragile that fictional dysfunctional relationships will cause them harm.

Twilight, the Uncertain Knight, and the Distressed Damsel

"Very much like" does not mean "identical." Of course the two situations are very different in some ways. I think they're similar in that the concern is unwarranted.

Twilight, the Uncertain Knight, and the Distressed Damsel

I think Twilight is about as likely to create abusive relationships as D&D is to create murderous devil worshipers.

Why I am giving up on Scales of War

I haven't tried to run Scales of War, but the first thing I do with any Dungeon adventure is figure out how to reduce it down to 6 or so combat encounters.

    Music for a Cyberpunk future?

In high school, my friends and I loved a band called Psykosonik, that had overtly William Gibson inspired cyberpunk lyrics. I haven't listen to them in years, and it might seem pretty cheesy now.

WotC Layoffs - Rob Heinsoo, Logan Bonner, and Chris Sims

Given the history, Christmas must be a pretty tense time of year at the WotC offices. It would suck to work in that kind of environment.

In case you didn't know: The WotC community is FREE

There's a story, but I don't remember the details. Some sort of Magic-related in joke.

    The Road (Film)

No, there isn't much in the book besides hunger, sickness, cannibalism, pain and death. But this complete lack of romanticization is exactly what sets apart from most of the post-apocalyptic genre, IMO. That said, I'm not sure the book needed to be a full novel. There are couple hundred pages...

    Evil is cool

The "eh, whatever" alignment in 4e is Unaligned, which has the benefit of avoiding everything you've described in your post.

    3.5e Players, 4e GM

I can see the appeal- if the players really like 3e character creation, but the DM really likes the way monsters work in 4e.

    Return on Investment

To be pedantic - I think what's being discussed here is value proposition, not return on investment. :)

[Character Builder] Will it every be customizable?

In an exception based system like this, I think creating an interface that non-programmers can use for customizations would be a project at least as big as the character builder itself.

As a DM how do you combine Sci Fi and Fantasy?

This is how I'd do it. d20 Modern/Future characters could be dropped into a D&D 3e world with almost perfect mechanical compatibility. The PCs would be completely out of whack with regard to challenge rating, but that's to be expected.

D&D and Computer Games, through the ages

I played the gold box SSI games in the late 80s/early 90's before I played any actual table top D&D.

    Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Preview Picture

There's been all this talk of it being more of a board game than an RPG, but there doesn't seem to be a board- or even a battlemap- in that picture. I wonder where you put all those counters?

How many cycles of 4E core books will you buy?

Lemon Curry. The decision to buy or not depends on the content of the books, not the number in the title.

More Dark SUn tidbits by Rich Baker

This is explicitly intentional- the "everything is core" philosophy of 4e also applies to trade dress. So don't expect the Dark Sun books to look significantly different from any other 4e books.

Orcus of Necromancer Games says "You were right, I was wrong"

My guess is that not everyone who plays 4e feels the same way about 3rd party support.
