D&D 5E breaking the healing rules with goodberries

They're not terribly applicable during combat, so it's really just gaming out of combat healing. Out of combat healing is very cheap. Depending on the adventure type and style, it may not even be all that useful. I'm pretty darn sure this isn't the intended result, but I'm also not sure it's...

    D&D 5E Attunement

I agree with almost nothing in this quote, but I understand entirely the premise it's coming from, so fair enough.

    D&D 5E Attunement

It's really not very video gamey. I'd say it's very board and dice gamey, followed by fairly tabletop RPG-y.

Congratulations to the 2015 ENnies Award Winners!

One essential problem with that model is that many people actually do not like B/C/D types of food (too fancy/strange/small, etc) while many of those who do like B/C/D types of food actively dislike A types of food (too fake/simple/unhealthy, etc) A result of DCBA is at least as wrong as the...

Learn about D&D organized play options

Huh, I imagine that's going to get odd for non-human characters pretty fast.

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Class Deck Subscriptions Kick Off With Paladin

Nothing else, check out the character sheets to see if it's something you're interested in! Personally, I'd much prefer playing the class deck monks and barbarians with the boons in their decks, but I think we made some very interesting boons for them to use. The earlier class decks (which the...

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Class Deck Subscriptions Kick Off With Paladin

They're most useful for the Organized Play they do, where you use them for your character. That said, they each have 3 new characters which adds a fair amount of further play options, and a subset of the boons will be new and/or special as each deck debuts (though future sets will likely then...

    D&D 5E Hypnotic Pattern

Yep, what kerbarian said. I haven't met the initiative system that didn't have problems, so just a matter of which you can accept :) I actually am okay with declaring actions at beginning of round and largely doing away with initiative entirely, though.

    D&D 5E Hypnotic Pattern

So in your group, you hope that at least one person who makes their save has a lower initiative than the caster, so they can wake people up before the end of the round. That's pretty different, too. I think I highly disapprove of not rolling for initiative if you can't act. You need to know...

    D&D 5E Hypnotic Pattern

Eh, I don't think the DM should manipulate the initiative order; the system doesn't support that. If a DM is having every monster act on the same initiative, though, he's got other problems to reconcile, so beats me how that works. Would your players not do the same thing? Whether it's being...

    D&D 5E Hypnotic Pattern

Depending on initiatives, it might only take the action of a single monster. He wakes up the next guy in initiative, that guy wakes the next in line, etc. Meanwhilst everyone else can still take their turns.

    D&D 5E Hypnotic Pattern

It's a strong spell, but I actually find it's not useful enough to be one of my staples. 1) Its area is pretty small; enemies are usually not grouped up enough to catch enough of the encounter in it. (one of last session's combats the enemies were spread across an 80 x 80 area so to get more...

    D&D 5E Friends cantrip revisited

Removing the downsides from Friends and nothing else makes it an average to mediocre cantrip, so you're on the right track there. The problems with Friends: 1) insufficient duration (1 minute) 2) insufficient effect (advantage) - easily replicated by an ally Helping you to talk 3) unable to be...

    Catching Up With PATHFINDER ONLINE

I've played lots of MMOs, because I have friends who like jumping around and playing them for a bit then stopping and I'll generally play any game that several of my friends are playing, cause really that's what's more important to me. One thing I've found true of every MMO I've played - the...

D&D 5E 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

I'm really not a fan of levels 1-4, so this is an awful squeaky range to work in for me ;)

Merge a Brooch of Shielding with the ability to do the occasional shield spell and that'd spike right up in usefulness :)

D&D 5E 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

I'll admit, if I were running a high level game I'd be tempted to do that type of item over +X items. I was pretty sad they kept +2 and +3 items in the game. But every table I've personally seen has had a full spread of +1s by that level, usually with at least a couple better options around as...

D&D 5E 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

Played Mines of Phandelver and everyone in the group had a magic weapon by the end of the adventure. _Everyone_. Including the monk, wizard, and warlock.

D&D 5E 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

Not having even a +1 weapon by 10th level is extremely unlikely at all the tables I've seen. Some archer fighters have +8 to hit at 2nd level, so yeah that's a bit of an outlier. That said, many of the folks highlighting the more broken aspects of the feat are _also_ outliers.

WRATH OF THE RIGHTEOUS For Pathfinder Adventure Card Game

Certainly fair. Not every game is for everyone. To be clear, there are plenty of people who really like the game and play it avidly. I just talked with someone who played 32+ hours of it last weekend. I don't have the data to know whether the changes that make the game a good one for you would...
