Actually, I've Stumbled Upon a number of industry links saying that 3D is not going to take over the way studios want it to. Yeah, this time the technology works, but it makes too many people's heads hurt. Plus most of the movies have it cheasily applied in post-production so it looks awful...
Yeah, 3e characters with sorcerer levels fell into two camps: those with 1 level so they could qualify for a prestige class, or those with 6 levels so they had 3rd level spells and could qualify for a prestige class. :) Now I would unhesitatingly *actually* take the class. The undead-blooded...
If you don't even go there -- Exvse me, if yov don't even go there, I commend yov for how accvrately yov captvered the vibe of the place. :) I bet yov covld sell those if yov made them!
Hell, I might even bvy one and I haven't been there in years.
I know I'm not setting myself an easy task. I've done that plenty of times in the past and not gotten anything done. :p Time I aimed a little higher. :)
Hmm. I just flipped through my Complete Adventurer hardcover after you pointed that out. You're right; my advice would make getting in to a lot of those classes trivial. But I think your formula goes a little too far the other direction. Most of the requirements were 8 ranks for something...
I'd recommend it. It's a fun system and a good read, even if you don't get to use it immediately.
Cool. I'm looking forward to the selling part, myself. It's the acquiring art and then formatting PDFs part I'm not so hip on. :)
The problem with trying to figure out D&D economics is that everyone *says* it's a pseudomedieval setting, but most campaigns and default settings don't actually have much in common with medieval Europe. A typical setting has elements of the Roman Empire (especially the Common language), the...
I've played Exalted for years now. Their solution is similar to this, but elegantly simple. You do nonlethal damage (they call it bludgeoning) until they're down to 0. Then it becomes lethal damage. It's quite simple and even passably realistic, if you care about such things.
As for the...
Vanilla is useful, because you can make root beer floats out of it.
I checked my ignore list when I came back. I don't recognize most of the names and I imagine most of them are long gone. But there's one guy on there who was back on Eric Noah's old board with me. I couldn't stand his posts...
Blame 1) Pathfinder and 2) Zeitgeist. Pathfinder got the game design bug back in me, so I was already thinking about coming back to ENWorld. Then Morrus posted the Zeitgeist trailer on Facebook and *bam* I'm here and a subscriber again. Well, a couple hours later, when I got !@#$% Paypal to...
In general, you shouldn't have much trouble porting over your 3e stuff. Like Crothian, though, I haven't. I generally find Pathfinder material superior, whether from Paizo or from most of the 3rd party publishers.
For practical advice: Subtract 3 ranks from the ranks needed to join a prestige...
I agree with the general opinion of the thread: you need the Core Book and the Bestiary. Get the Advanced Player's Guide as soon as you can. If you're the GM, I highly recommend the GMG and, if you use your computer when you run, open up Paizo's SRD. I cannot tell you how much time I save...
I was wondering why I was still at 0 gold even after I plonked down for my silver subscription. That would explain it! So could I trouble you for my 30 gp signing bonus? :)
I'll tell you when it becomes a new system: now. Why?
My 8 year old son just started roleplaying. We were thinking about getting him into gaming, but I didn't want to drag out my old 3.5 books. They all felt all old and moldy. But then I remembered Pathfinder and bought a copy. It fixed...
