    Cantrips as encounter powers?

It's not a big deal, it's just decidedly unmagical. Not to mention, crossbows are awesome weapons and should be carried by awesome warriors. Wizard with a crossbow is almost as bad as a non-Gith Wizard with a greatsword.

    Wizards and Armor

I seem to recall one game-- but not the name of it-- in which the reason Wizards didn't wear metal armor and often went as near to naked as they could afford was because of overheating. Magic generated a lot of heat, and a powerful mage could cook himself if he weren't careful.

How do you like your martial characters?

Thing you got to remember is, it isn't just martial dailies I have a problem with. I'm okay with having some abilities you can use once a day, or several abilities that you can use a total number of X times per day-- what I'm not okay with, whether it's Martial or Arcane or Divine or whatever...

How do you like your martial characters?

I disagree with this a lot. Wuxia should be an option for high-level Fighters. A 15th level Fighter should be able to wreck the same flying demonic horde that his Cleric and Wizard buddies do-- whether he does that by knocking them out of the air with his crossbow, daring them to come back down...

How do you like your martial characters?

No, just no. This isn't some special hate as it applies to Martial characters, but I really, really hate the entire AEDU structure-- it feels artificial and contrived, and I just can't get over it. That isn't to say that I have any problem with the idea of at-will powers, and then powers that...

    Awfully Alarmed About Armour

Yeah, but if we're being realistic, a large steel shield is also worth a Hell of a lot more than a +2 bonus to AC-- give me a choice between any body armor lighter than a full suit of six-in-one chain or carrying a shield in my skivvies, and I'm taking the shield. Unless it's a gunfight. I just...

    Wizards and Armor

I've never been satisfied with the fluff explanations for it, but at the same time it's a trope that I want to preserve-- I want Wizards to have a hard time with armor, but for Warmages and Magi and Fighter/Wizards to have varying degrees of ability to cast spells in armor. I don't want it to...

    Wizards and Armor

I don't like either ASF or a hard restriction, but I think armor should penalize magic unless you have some ability that makes it easier. Like, you have disadvantage on your casting roll (casting rolls should be a thing) if you're casting in armor, unless you have a class or a theme or...

D&D 5E Bring back the hobbit-like halflings for D&D Next!

Personally, I like my halflings more on the Eberron/Dark Sun side-- with the exalted courtesy of civilized halflings being a direct result of having spent your entire life surrounded by halflings, and the larger folk forgetting this at their peril. Less Bilbo, more Belkar.

    Awfully Alarmed About Armour

Trust me, if I thought for one second that I could successfully argue that the appropriate AC penalty for wearing armor was zero, that's would I would be doing.

    Cantrips as encounter powers?

I don't know. I must confess to liking Wizards with unlimited cantrips better than I like Wizards with crossbows. That isn't to say that I don't understand the opposition to Wizards casting spells every single round, for people who want something that feels more like conventional fantasy...

The monk. It will be mystical most likely

I'm sorry, I'm just getting a little fed up with people saying that this thing doesn't belong in D&D and that thing doesn't belong in D&D when most of the things they're bitching about were part of D&D since before they were-- it's one thing to say that something new and different "isn't D&D" or...

The monk. It will be mystical most likely

It is like you say. We have our mystical warrior traditions, too-- ours just tended to be armed, because our cultures were generally more accepting of arms. We never developed the same level of sophistication in our unarmed techniques because it was generally assumed that people would have...

The monk. It will be mystical most likely

Yeah. I'm really sick of 'Mysterious Far East' even being a thing any more. If you want to have your Chinaland and your Japanland, go ahead, but they shouldn't be any more 'exotic' or 'special' than the Frozen North and Hobbit Country and Mummyland that always show up. They shouldn't have a...

D&D 4E You know what we didn't get in 4e? A Soulknife class.

Honestly, I don't think it's enough of a thing to have a whole class based on it-- it was alright in 3.0 when it was a prestige class with +1 manifester progression (even if it wasn't enough progression to be worth it) and Dreamscarred Press managed to make a pretty good class out of it... but...

D&D Next: Classes - EN World: Your Daily RPG Magazine It surprised the Hell out of me, too. Psionics has been a... contentious point in D&D history.

Clarifications on touch spells (how did you run them?)

I'd say if you missed with a touch spell, the slot is consumed-- but you can keep rolling attacks with it until you either hit or until you give up and try to cast something else.

The monk. It will be mystical most likely

I'm hoping so. With Psion in the core, and hopefully absorbing Ardent, I'm hoping Monk remains a psionic class.

D&D 4E You know what we didn't get in 4e? A Soulknife class.

Soulknife is a D&D class (prestige class in 3.0 and base class in 3.5/PF) that is a melee combatant and close-range skirmisher who is capable of psionically generating his own weaponry. He is essentially a psionic character whose at-will abilities are 'have a weapon' at low level and 'stab...

D&D 4E You know what we didn't get in 4e? A Soulknife class.

It's not necessarily a psionic thing, either. Maybe it's all the X-Men comics I've been reading lately, but I am suddenly struck by Soulknife being a thing that should exist. (There are at least three Soulknives and one Aegis in the X-Men.) I think it would make a pretty neat theme. Whatever...
