Pretty sure I've said it before, but I'd love an X-Com style game based on 4Ed. Image managing an adventure party (or guild/mercenary company/whatever). It would be awesome.

Been playing Dungeon Worlds and before that it was a simplified Strands of Fate game.

It's not a bad idea, and we're very familiar with it. We're a group that's been been gaming on-and-off together since the early 90s when we were angsty 20-somethings :-)

Thanks for all the suggestions. We're leaning towards Savage Worlds with the Horror Companion, but a couple other suggestions look promising as well.

Well, when you put it like that :) Maybe if I phrased it more like, an RPG that's in the same spirit as season 1 of Penny Dreadful? Any generic RPG system can do it, I'm trying to save time on the customization side of things. Thanks!

Are there any RPGs that capture the feeling of Penny Dreadful? I've readup on Kerberos Club and Rippers, but both of those seem too overt in their power displays. I'm wanting something that's more subtle with what the characters can do. Kind of tough to explain what I'm wanting and maybe I'm...

What about an open world that has much more game play than that, but the main quest line can be finished in 10 - 20 hours?

During the 4th Ed days, I was hoping for a turn-based came like X-Com, but with the current DnD rule set. Oh well, at least I have War of the Chosen to keep me going.

Where's the "we all live hundreds of miles apart, so it's the only option" option? The weekly game I'm in, there's myself and my wife in Oregon, one guy in the Bay Area, one in Tulsa, two the Greely, Colorado and the GM in Denver. Google Hangouts and Roll20 is the best we've found.

I think there's room for both....a quick spell to animate the corpses of the fallen, think something along the lines of a combat summons, and a ritual to creating greater undead or even lesser undead that are permanent until destroyed. - KT

I'm not sure why people keep saying the game is out of beta. Their fan page on Facebook says it's still in beta, I launch it and the graphic in the upper left corner says "Beta" and the version number is 0.7171 - release is typically 1.0. There's a big difference between open beta and release.
