Let's move on to the next challenge.
Skill Challenge #2 - Elemental Quandry
Tracking the cause of the insect attacks is fairly easy - an obvious trail of bugs, requiring only a few Perception and Nature checks to follow into the sewers. I don't want to create another skill challenge for this...
I've gotten some great feedback in this thread so far on my first skill challenge. Lots of good advice to help make it better, and some good tips for skill challenges in general.
Camelot - thanks for the roaches. I'm not sure that I want them to be so hard to kill, but it is a good starting...
I'm prepping for my next 4E campaign that should be starting within the next couple weeks, and I've got some ideas for skill challenges that I'd like to include. So far, skill challenges have not gone over very well with my group, but I think that there's some interesting stuff that's possible...
What about weapons like the Bola or Net? If I throw my +1 Magic Bola at an opponent, it instantly returns to my hand. But does that mean that the opponent is no longer immobilized? Or is there some magical force that remains tangling up the bad guy's ankles...
I also listen to Radio Free Hommlet and The Tome Show, along with The Podge Cast, Bear Swarm, Happy Jacks RPG Podcast, and Critical Hit from Major Spoilers.
Some are better than others, but all of them have been interesting and informative.
Awesome pic! That's exactly what I was envisioning.
Now to take this another step: On round 2, after Mr. Green has been pulled off of his balcony and landed in the sharp rocks below, Mr. Red uses his whip power again.
Can he pull him 4 squares off of the ground, and then let go, dropping him...
Say you've got two combatants on separate balconies four squares apart, suspended 20 feet above jagged rocks.
One of the combatants has a magical whip, with which they can make a Range 5 attack that Pulls 5 on a hit. He uses it to attack his opponent on the opposite balcony, and successfully...
Our gaming group is a little too small right now since one of our players took a job that involves lots of traveling. We've currently got a total of 4, which makes just 3 players and a revolving GM slot.
We have been playing a number of systems lately, including 4E, Pathfinder, Mutants &...
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your work on the Monster Maker. It's incredibly useful, and has been a godsend in speeding up prepwork for DMing. :D
If WotC makes builder functions that make your other scripts obsolete, I'll be a very happy camper indeed. Until then, thank you!
We've found that our group of five is just a little too small. So we are looking to add someone to our group... and it could be you!
We meet on a weekly basis in the Long Beach area, with players in the South Bay and northern Orange County area. We are all in our mid 30s-40s, and have been...
One thing to avoid if you are planning on working a new Lifepath book... try to avoid making moral judgements in your product like the writer of the Central Casting books did. He turned off at least a few readers who did not agree with how his personal morality and religion filtered into the...
Encounter 7 - Dragon Hoard – 1600 xp
This is where the dragons hang out when they aren't using their breath weapons to melt the party. It'll take a little bit of work for the party to get down here - either through tactics, thievery, or brute strength - but I'm sure they'll be able to manage...
Encounter 6 - Throne Room (was Altar Chamber) – 1650 xp
This is another encounter that left me a little cold, mostly because of 3.5's rules on giving spellcasting levels to monsters. Originally, this would be a fight between the party and two Blackscale Lizardman adept2 and the high priest of...
Encounter 5 - Sacrifice Chamber – 1400 xp
I found the original encounter here a little lame: Two Blackscale Lizardmen adept2 and a Dire Wolverine chained to the wall (which limited it's ability to move around and fight). I couldn't figure out a way to make that encounter interesting, so I...
Encounter 4 - Temple Portico – 1300 xp
Guarding the front of the temple were two Blackscale Lizardfolk and a Dracotaur. He's my first big conversion, since we haven't seen 4E stats for any dracotaurs yet. I've decided to try and make him a melee controller: he knocks PCs prone, sets them on...
Encounter 3 – Blackscale Huts – 1550 xp
This is where the tribe's Blackscales live. The original fight had 4 Blackscale Lizardfolk and a caged Girallon that could be released to wreck havoc on the entire fight. I'm not a big fan of the big four-armed white gorillas, so I've swapped it out with...
Encounter 2 - Duskscale Huts – 1330 xp
This is where the smaller Duskscale Lizardfolk in the camp live. Rather than changing them to small creatures like Poison Dusk Lizardmen were in 3.5, I've left them as medium... My party is tired of fighting kobolds, which is what I'd use to represent...
