D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

You should write letters to the makers of the game instead of trying to convince the general player population. I have not read all the essays in this thread but I'm sure there are some decent arguments on how to improve the game. That being said, I also see a lot of posts in this forum...

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

I still don't get it. Just don't play a halfling.

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

I'm not against anything. There's really not much lore in the players handbook anyways. If someone wants to add lore or make them cannibals, go for it! I think it's a bit nitpicky to complain about a race being in a core book and at the same time agreeing that they should be in a subsequent...

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

If you don't like halflings, then don't play one. If you are a DM, u can ban them. No need to try to ban them for everyone else.

    D&D 5E Using shields with two-handed weapons

    At least disadvantage on attacks.

D&D 5E player knowlege vs character knowlege (spoiler)

How would you handle a low intelligence character played by a player who is Googling everything during the game? At some point, just saying "this what what my character thinks" (and being defacto omniscient) is too much

D&D General Why DPR Sucks: Discussing Whiteroom Theorycrafting

Why the hate on dpr? I would bet that even the OP does some quick damage calculations is his or head when rolling a character. And the calculation has to be in a white room because otherwise there would be too messy. If you hate dpr then disregard it.

D&D 5E Player agency and Paladin oath.

The Chaotic characters are evil. Sounds basically like a paladin with two CE characters. The CG characters are not Good since they are basically complicit. Superman wouldn't work well with the Suicide Squad. I suppose if they hate each other it's working as intended? Can the Paladin be a...

D&D General The child stealing food to survive scenario, for alignment

I'd have to say the motivations behind the theft would determine good/evil. Stealing from innocents can definitely hurt people and is definitely an evil act if done out of greed or plain cruelty.

D&D 5E How should be the future Oriental Adventures.

Oriental Adventures was 40 years ago. Times change. Some people are offended by the term when used to describe people. I am Asian and don't really care either way but can see their viewpoint. "Oriental" has been largely used to describe a "style". Asian-Americans who were born in the US...

D&D 5E Abandoning attunement and scaling back concentration

Older versions of DnD had other restrictions on casters. For example, you had to declare your intent to cast a spell before rolling initiative. If you took any damage before your turn, you wasted your spell slot. Higher level spells requires longer casting times which meant you had to win...

D&D 5E Why the Druid Metal Restriction is Poorly Implemented

No. What "you" (plural) are saying is that it's perfectly acceptable to have CE druid riding around on motorbikes with flame throwers burning Bambi and Thumper because there are no explicit rules against that. Any DM who punishes that type of activity is a tyrant on a railroad.

D&D 5E Why the Druid Metal Restriction is Poorly Implemented

Seems silly for any druid to be allowed to mercilessly upset the balance of nature without any repurcussions. Any player who does that and then comes back with "there's nothing in the rules..." seems like a classic "rules lawyer" to me. I'm glad such types would voluntarily leave. Props to...

D&D 5E Why the Druid Metal Restriction is Poorly Implemented

Would u consider a DM punsihing a druid that burns down a forest a tyrant? And this is not buring down a forest to dtop some blight from spreading. This would be pure arson.

D&D 5E Why the Druid Metal Restriction is Poorly Implemented

Facepalm ok u win. DMs that dont allow plate wearing druids are tyrants and railroad engines. Any rule with no explicit penalty is fluff.

D&D 5E Why the Druid Metal Restriction is Poorly Implemented

Big difference between a Paladin slipping up and committing a sin and a Druid putting on plate mail. It's silly to equate the two. Violating a "vow of chastity" or something similar or eating delicious non-kosher meat is a very natural thing to do and human nature. Putting on uncomfortable...

D&D 5E Why the Druid Metal Restriction is Poorly Implemented

LOL Are u serious? I suppose that would be ok with me. Just no druid powers while you're wearing it. "But the rulebook says nothing bad happens if i wear full plate! You are a tyrant! I rage quit!" Dont let the door hit you on the way out.

D&D 5E Why the Druid Metal Restriction is Poorly Implemented

So if a DM says NO to a druid wearing full plate, he's a tyrant? It's obviously against the spirit of the game to have druids wear full plate. If someone wants their druids to wear full pkate and carry machine guns in their game, fine i dont care. Just getting a hissy fit about "player...

D&D 5E Why the Druid Metal Restriction is Poorly Implemented

Cant believe some ppl here would actually quit a game if there druid weren't allowed to prance about the woods in full plate armor. Rules lawyering players are so annoying. Good riddance then!
