Is using a familiar in combat to grant advantage a common tactic?

I'd work with someone who wants an elf adopted by dwarves so they can swap certain racial attributes. But if someone wants powergame, then the fluff should only go so far. If someone wants 10 foot reach, then play a bugbear if its that important. You shouldn't be able to reskin your bugbear...

Is using a familiar in combat to grant advantage a common tactic?

That is a pretty lame "reskin". Just get the damn owl if u want to have flyby cheese. I would allow the owl to be reskinned if there was some sort of creativity involved. For example, a red parrot for a pirate wizard or even a toucan or something. Imagine a player wanted the 10 foot reach...

Is using a familiar in combat to grant advantage a common tactic?

How does a familiar find a dragon's weak spot? Not all dragons have a missing scale. Pointing out obvious weak spots like "the dragon eyes are not covered by scales" should not qualify as "help". Unless the encounter specifically points out a weak spot and also provides specifics on how to...

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

The score of a basketball game that has not started yet is not 0 to 0. It's "--". The score is null or undefined. 0 is a value. Null or undefined is the absence of any value.

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

LoL. It sure ain't equal to zero. And yes I do know what is is. Obviously u do not.

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

There is no logical way math or computer science can deduce that some random symbol equals 0. That is human intuition ( and wrong too ).

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

Dude. That is not a math concept. That's a computer science concept. O and Null are not the same thing.

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

According to you, everything can affect everything. Everything, including nets, has to have a damage property and function - since the concept of "n/a" is unacceptable to you. The identity property should never even factor in because there is no math operation to be performed...

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

Damage is not even a property of net. So it can't be quantified by an integer such as 0. That's where your math fails. Computer science has taught us that there is a distinct difference between null (or undefined) and 0. The former implies that a quality does not even exist. The latter...

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

"--" is not a number. Not a hard concept to grasp.

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

Computer science handles nulls differently than math. Integer math just equates it to zero because it does not handle non-numbers. Null is a non-number. It is not zero.

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

This has nothing to do with set theory. You are confusing equivalence with equality. Null damage and 0 damage have equivalent effects on hit points. But they are not equal. Algorithmically, the function that calculates hit points after a hit would treat null and 0 the same...

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

f(x) = null is a perfectly valid function too It's not really a math problem. It is more of a logic/computer science problem.

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

F(x) = null G(x) = 0 Null and 0 can have equivalent effects in many cases. But they are not equal. 0 is an integer. Null does not have that type of classification. Some programming languages inherently consider them equivalent in many cases- but they are not equal. If the net has no damage...

Can Sharpshooter be used with a Net?

Adding SS or sneak attack damage to a net is as munchkin as it gets. Null does not equal 0 too. 0 is an integer. Null isn't even a number. As regards to hit point loss, 0 and null can be considered equivalent in effect. But they are not equal. I can imagine a high level rogue critting on...

Sneak attacking undead and constructs seems wrong

You could multiclass wizard/sorceror to basically double your arcane spell slots.

My first Homebrew attempt to fix the elven dex fighter/rapier and bow all too frequent build in my campaign: I need some advice!

Part of the problem is the min-maxing that gives Dex fighters and rapiers a bad name. A dex fighter with 12 strength? Perfectly fine. Even a 10 is ok A dex "fighter" with 8 strength? Kind of lame.
