My understanding is that Kenzer is sticking with Hackmaster and creating a "5th" edition of the game. Future Kalamar material will be in Hackmaster 5th edition format.

I agree with the general premise of the original post. This idea of merging a system and a setting (an idea that 4e seems to be promoting) may be a successful one, however. At least from a marketing point of view. When you provide this much setting with the rules, they inevitably become one...

Considering the first Dragon magazine I bought was #294, I think my choice is obvious. If using Erik Mona's categories, I'd have to go with Paizo.
