D&D 5E Final playtest packet due in mid September.

My D&D game is more house rules than rules, but we aren't the "average" gamer for whom marketing and design is focused on.

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

That's good; as long as it isn't convoluted

    D&D 5E Dragon's Eye View: Murder In Baldur's Gate

So, this finally arrived today 2 days late from Amazon (but they did warn me) Overall, this is is a big trainride, and while the stages concept is fun, the players are just a long for the ride. To be fair, WHFRP suffers form the same effect, and this is essentially "An enemy within" subplot...

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

basically, will wizard/sorcerer be legal ... thinking not

    D&D 5E Ranger's favored enemies and spells.

You say hat like its a good thing. There should be a determination of what is a class and what isn't, and clearly there isn't if the grab-bag arcanist (Mage) is anything to go by

    D&D 5E Playtested dat 5e at Gencon.

Ok, but the rules clearly state they are spells, so I guess spells without a level... Good to see rules lawyering alive and well in Next :)

How Much of D&D is the Rules?

Wait... +3 longswords at 7th level....I want to play :) Actually, reminds me of one of my favorite characters in 1e, Half-Elf Ranger Arias Woodfriend, had +3 frost brand by 8th... Used it mainly to put out fires caused by the Magic-User...(that character also burned a wish to allow him to...

D&D 5E "Can I Do That with a Turtle on my Head?"

Agreed. I have some differentiation in weapons, like Light Blade, Heavy Blade, Heavy Blade - Great, but that's all daggers, shortswords, longswords, rapiers, two handed swords, even poleaxes. I'm also to the point were i do have weapon feats that make weapons better (yeah feat tax....) but the...

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

Great information. So the Mage is now the grab-bag arcanist, while we have 5 classes for swinging a stick. The only way I an make sense of this (and its not a bad idea) is that it reflects the inherent dichotomy of the complexity of the class. Picking a stick swinger is a two step choice...

    D&D 5E Dragon's Eye View: Murder In Baldur's Gate

I like the muted colors, even the Mage in purple (where in medieval times purple was a royal and expensive color); but I can d without the green lantern mask and the oversize armor on our fighter/paladin

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

I wasn't being snarky, I literally have 7 "you have been quoted" emails and I can't actually follow what the reply is ;) Re pacts. I'm with you on this. I think flavor should not be explicit, let the DM decide what the "power of the stars" means

With favored foe = poacher :)

D&D 5E Final playtest packet due in mid September.

I appreciate focusing in part on a group that is most likely to break the system, but there is much of a system to have mastery over. I am concerned by the "we will invite posters from the char op boards" ... Future tense,... Are you frigging kidding me? It feels like the end of the public...

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

variant Do me a favor, stop making changes to your post after you've been responded to, just continue in a separate post, thanks. To answer the additions to your post, I've no idea what the artificer subclass will look like, so I can't answer. My point is, if there are going to be multiple...

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

Point is, if you are going to significant differences, like spell tables, then just have different classes. There s supposed to be mechanical as well as thematic connections in the class.

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

Late getting back, sorry. True, but the "spells per day" and "cantrips" are structural features of the class table; deviations from that is essentially a new class, or should be. To design around that is IMO convoluted for a class base system.

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

At which point it is not a Mage variant, which is preparation with at will limited to cantrips

D&D 5E "Can I Do That with a Turtle on my Head?"

Yes, yes, and yes... It's narrative authority, but gods help you if you lose it and try to influence other gnomes, or those with gnome-lore

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

Sorry, missed that; yes it is. The initial idea was introduced in 3.5, called reserve feats; if you have a spell available (say fireball) you could at-will cast a spell (like 2d6 damage) ... in 5e, way too late. I love at will magic, an 6 years into my homebrew its been an option (been using...
